Leading up to my album Roots, the time is right to drop the next chapter in my return to the underground. "My Roots" is very representative of the original vibe when I started out in house music, but done in a very current & modern mentality.

The sounds that I started out with are back in a big way in the underground, and I just felt very inspired to create something that has that party vibe. I went back to my grimy, dirty jackin' house sounds with this one, and it's very representative of my DJ'ing technique with builds, big bass line drops and huge soaring vocals. It's been fantastic to see how well it's been received on my dance floor!

Seven years after opening up Phonique's boutique label, Ladies & Gentlemen, remains as vital as ever.  Not only has the quality of each release stayed uniformly strong - they have also come thick and fast, introducing many up-and-coming artists and producers to new audiences. 

Michael Vater, a.k.a Phonique himself, clearly has an ear for talent, and this Best of Ladies & Gentlemen compilation demonstrates that fact admirably. 

Many of the label's big hitters are all present and correct - Bruno Be's huge 'Lovesick' from last year continues to do the business, while Dirty Doering & Sascha Cawa present us their lush 'Lumy'. 

Elsewhere, Tigerskin's 2010 bomb 'Loop Back in Time' still sounds fresh, Vincenzo's near anthemic 'Return of Sha' also appears and Kikiorix's tech house blueprint 'Plastic House' is included via the Phonique remix.  

Plenty of new producers are represented too, showing that the label is not content to rest on its laurels. With talents like Stark D, Roberto Palmero, Fabricio Peçanha and OK Corral, the future is looking very rosy for Ladies & Gentlemen - here's to seven more years!
