With previous releases in About Disco, Deep Sense and Moiss Music this couple delivers four great, brilliantly blended Afro-Funk fusion tunes. To kickstart the release comes 'Water Love' a soothing opener driven by smooth chords and a funky bassline sampling a classic African track.The duo speeds things up for its second course with 'Welcome To Cancun' arriving as an up-tempo jam with overarching house rhythms and acid synths. Up next, 'Malaui', gently cuts with fresh guitar riffs and African vocals making it a perfect tune for soothing sunsets on the beach. This duo does not disappoint, wrapping up with their gem 'Welcome To Cancun (Alexny Remix)' Ivan Podwiazny surprises us once more with his flawless production techniques flipping the original mix to a house-vibe funk fusion suitable for many occasions. Despite the artist name and album title, this is far from being the collection of 15 limp, same-y soul ballads you might be fearing! Instead, Secret Soul Society - AKA Neon Heights front man Cal Gibson and friends - serve up veritable sm?rg?sbord of Balearic delights, from the dusty, looped disco-soul of 'Better Get To Know You' and the folksy Laurel Canyon vibes of 'Groovy Coconuts' to the 80s soul redux of 'Find Our Way', the bonkers 'Leeping For Joy' which should appeal to fans of 4hero, Four Tet et al, and the Stevie Nicks-biting 'Stevie Loves Bettye'.

Disco For Funky Monkeys!

Hot-stepping into the disco jungle, Hot Gorilla Records blur the lines between disco, funk, house and reworked edits. And they come at you with one aim and one aim only - to make you go bananas on the dancefloor!

Founded by Andy Buchan and Conan The Selector in May 2020 as the pandemic hit, the duo brought some much-needed ‘good times’ to the disco scene. And when clubs did open up again, they were straight into action, touring the UK as DJ support for The Brand New Heavies including sold-out dates in Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham. 

Musically they strut the line between disco, funk and house, championing original music and heavily reworked edits. 

And they’ve had plenty of dance floor success including several Juno Download No.1s, multiple Traxsource Top 10s and four tracks in the Best of 2021 Beatport chart. 

The Hot Gorilla Records family currently includes founders Andy Buchan and Conan The Selector alongside guests like Fingerman, Chewy Rubs, Mannix, Monsieur Van Pratt, Akeem Raphael and a big troop of funky monkeys. 

And with an album on the way, a 2nd birthday to celebrate in May 2022 and gigs across the UK and beyond, Hot Gorilla Records will continue to bring the ‘Good Times’ as they make people go bananas on the dancefloor.
