With the sudden rise of minimal-tech, or as some call it “nuggets”, Estonias Abdul Raeva can be seen as part of this rising generation. Even though the word “tech-house" can still have a bad clang in some ears (as written in a recent article on Bandcamp), these dudes prove it is the polar opposite.
 
With releases on respected labels like Haws, Tombolo, Be Told Lies, as well as a critically acclaimed EP on the local Echocentric Records; Abdul Raeva have learned how to walk on the thin line between breaksy progressive and minimal. With support from some of the biggest DJs in this sphere, their combination of clubby basslines and more easy-going breakbeat for home listening is nothing short of tipping your hat to. 

With this mix they combine all what has been written above and do it flawlessly. We recommend that you dip this 1h nuggety delight in some hot sauce and garlic mayo.

Renzi99 is no stranger to the HOTBOX family and what it stands for. With a passion for digging and a straightforward mentality, his selections will always find space for a different set of emotions. A pilgrim of record shops and the Discogs loophole will make you wonder what sorts of goodies are in his bag. Carefully balancing his sounds between genres, he likes to dip his toes into breaks and the progressive sounds of the 90’s, switching it up with influences from the UK. 

His first gig at Ezekiel made heads turn as he literally blew the roof of the venue. To kick off our HOT Series Renzi99 provides us with a mix of flirty, bouncing sounds deflecting into a puddle of deep prog with a mean UK twist.
