There's not really much else to say about this one. The names dropped in the title alone lets your ears know what they're in store for.

Detroit's Burden brothers, more commonly known as Octave One, have been making classic techno from their roots since 1990 – and, much to our pleasure, have continued to produce, DJ and play sensational live sets as though no time has passed. 25 years on, their music still fuels the dancefloors of 2nd gen. techno lovers, as well as being picked up and reworked by modern dance music's most valuable players –  of which Paul Woolford is most certainly one.

When asked about his "Lose Myself" rework, Paul shared that Octave One and their 430 West label "have been inspirations to me for so many years. We met through mutual friends and immediately connected, following various gigs together globally. It was an honour to be invited to work on something for the Detroit label. My intention was to bring out the soulful edge of Octave One's sound and place it within the framework of a track that would work towards the end of the night." Debuting on Rekids, Laurent Garnier & Chambray collaborate for a colossal single entitled ‘Feelin’ Good’ featuring two outstanding remixes from label owner Radio Slave.

Having supported Rekids for many years in his sets across the globe, it only made sense for Laurent Garnier to drop one of his finest productions to date on the label. Although the legendary Frenchman has kept busy producing movie soundtracks (‘Paris Est A Nous’) and remixes in recent years, this is his first full release since 2017. He’s joined in the studio by Chambray, a Berlin-based producer known for releasing on Figure, Unknown To The Unknown and Jimmy Edgar’s Ultramajic.

Opening with sporadic battle cries, stabbing claps and powerful bass sequences before rapturous piano melodies come into effect – ‘Feelin’ Good’ is undoubtedly one of this year’s biggest tracks. On the flip, Radio Slave assembles two contrasting remixes that do just as much damage: the first is an atmospheric
number that marches forward using precision kicks, rattling percussion and rising pads, whilst the ‘Revenge Mix’ cranks things up a notch with its crunchy breaks before introducing the original’s blissful keys.

Beard Man label boss Mark Broom returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids with a swinging techno focused four-tracker entitled ‘Raver EP’

Since the early 90s, renowned UK artist and DJ Mark Broom has been cherished for his consistent output of rhythmically charged techno and energy spiking performances with releases on Warp, R&S, Soma, Hardgroove and Blueprint alongside collaborations with artists such as Baby Ford, James Ruskin, Discrete Circuit and Gary Beck. ​A regular on Rekids, Broom's contributed numerous releases and remixes to Matt Edwards' label - notably last year's massive 'Break 97 EP' - and his next outing sees the prolific producer return with four more versatile club-focused cuts.

‘Raver’ opens with boomy kicks, splashing cymbals and aggressive stabs until ‘Insta’ trembles the floor with rolling snares, driving rides, distorted claps and arpeggiated synth patterns. On the flip, ‘Midnight’ takes retro sounding keys and adds peak time drive with lofi drums, distant vocals and a sleek funk line sample before ‘Hear Me’ electrifies with a tease of classic 90s-esque lyrics, bouncing toms and elated chords.

Souvenirplus hits the year running with an extended EP from Italian housemeister Francys.

First up, ‘Trust’ is a mid-tempo mood piece, chunky chords bliss the melody out, while a panoply of percussive effects call out, like the varied sounds of a night time jungle as described by synth. Running through the sylvan scene, like a burbling stream is an ethereal voice beckoning one into various euphoric crescendos. ‘Silver’ is a slow burner, tight drum patterns and reversed vocal samples driving it forward. The dubbed out bassline gives the track a spaced out ambient feel, bringing to mind FSOL’s classic ‘Papua New Guinea’. Next up, shuffling beat and gurgling bleeps create a retro-futuristic feel, with ominous arpeggios ratcheting up the tension on ‘Solitude’. Rounding things off, ‘Water Woman’ spurts to attention, with some lovely keys, shimmering synth washes and brushed snare work. The track builds in to a barely sung vocal, adding to the Balearic Beat feel, one to watch the sun rise to maybe?

The debut release, ‘Just A Little’ sees Niggemann explore a chunky tech house aesthetic, precise analogue drum programming and gnarly melodies. Narrated by a late night House mantra and punctuated by full bodied synth work, ‘Just A Little’ is destined for the more discerning floors.

Bolstering the original are two well executed remixes from fellow scene stalwarts, Glimpse and Steve Bug. Poker Flat boss Bug’s mix adds a metallic shine and sleazy edge to proceedings, whilst Glimpse employs his trademark heavy set, stripped back grooves, coated in layers of gritty atmosphere and off-kilter processing.

A strong release that forms the foundations of what is set to become the go-to label for authentic House and Techno, Alex Niggemann showcases his production prowess alongside his A&R nous.

Hotflush is a record label launched by Paul Rose aka Scuba in 2003. Its early period was spent as a central part of London's Bass Music scene which exploded in the mid 2000s, although the label has always been difficult to pigeonhole musically and recent output has focused on Techno and House.
