Steyoyoke Black releases it's third EP 'Don't Be Afraid'. Having already produced a string of releases for Steyoyoke, this all original 3 track EP from Nick Devon signifies his debut appearance with the new sub label. 

'Don't Be Afraid' provides you with an audio illusion of contrast and sound. Layers of echoed effects give off a cave like sensation, whilst male vocals by Benji float in and out and speak to you with a commanding presence. 'Don't Be Afraid' carries a significant broodiness, which is heavily portrayed through its throbbing bass and drive. 

The second track is called 'Rattled' and it comes with a slightly more progressive vibe. Infused with warm tribal elements, slapping percussion and an alluring melody fit for a king, it certainly harnesses a certain power and intensity. 

'Skyline' is driven by lashings of techno characteristics and influences. It has moments of melodic smoothness as well as moments of sharp edginess. 'Skyline' is a romance, balanced perfectly between haunting soundscapes and minimalistic structures.

Hotflush unveils its second release of 2015 in the form of a collaborative single between label mainstay Locked Groove and ascendant Italian duo Mind Against.

With both acts coming off the back of triumphant finishes to 2014 - the success of Locked Groove's huge Enigma EP and Mind Against's surge into #33 position in Resident Advisor's 2014 DJ poll - 'Elysium / Pulsar' marks the first time the producers have collaborated. The end result combines Locked Groove's punchy, dancefloor-ready aesthestic and the emotionally resonant melodics that Mind Against have made their signature since breaking through with Life And Death in 2013.

SCI+TEC welcome a new name to the label, but a very much established artist on the scene. Rumors, Get Physical, Saved and Akbal are just some of the labels to have released the music of Italian producer Lancaster, and his residency at Barcelona’s Macarena club, that now tops a decade, has lead to an unrivaled knowledge of how to exquisitely manipulate a dancefloor. 

This enviable skill for warming a room, building tension and atmosphere within the boundary of four walls, has transferred to Lancaster’s own productions. Intricate and precise, with minute and delicate movements, his music is perfect for those enduring and extended sets. 

His debut plunges us into the deep, as we go Diving With Sharks. Opener ‘More Music’ is a perfect, beatless intro that features the vocals of Mo Pink. Cymbals, synth and sirens, cascading and crashing in bombastic fashion. Quite the opposite is the deep, bubbling slink of the title track. Warm bass and fluid fx see the track flow, as a variety of vocal samples lap back and forth within the mix. The addition of stormy synth stabs however, keep us on our toes. 

Final track ‘Bubble’, is a sparse and spacey affair. The emptiness is filled with a solid kick-drum, echoing fx and a ticking clock. Which surely must be signalling the end of our debut with Lancaster. We can’t wait to have him back.

Hotflush is a record label launched by Paul Rose aka Scuba in 2003. Its early period was spent as a central part of London's Bass Music scene which exploded in the mid 2000s, although the label has always been difficult to pigeonhole musically and recent output has focused on Techno and House.
