Filth on Acid label head Reinier Zonneveld and hero of the underground has linked up with mainstay DJ/producer Oliver Heldens, more specifically his legendary underground alias HI-LO to explore a darker techno sound. The first fruit of their multiple studio sessions in Amsterdam is the new single 'Saw of Olympus’.

"Over the last few years I’ve become a big fan of Reinier’s productions, his style and his label Filth on Acid, so a few months ago I sent him a couple of new HI-LO ideas that I was working on and he was really into them, so he invited me to his studio to work on some of these together. In the studio we were a really good match, it was very inspiring for the both of us, and I definitely learned a lot from him. We ended up doing multiple studio sessions and we are working on a few different tracks together now which I’m really excited about!
This new track ‘Saw of Olympus’ is the first one that we finished. We called it ‘Saw of Olympus’, because the track has a very distinctive Saw synth, a real “Saw of the Gods”, continuing the Greek god theme of my latest HI-LO releases Athena, Kronos, Zeus and Poseidon. “Since the whole scene is in lockdown and sitting at home, everybody has more time on hand to work on new things. For me this is a great way to explore new collabs that might not be the most obvious ones. Oliver Heldens has been sending me some of his techno works for over a year already - under his alias HI-LO. I really liked what I heard and invited him over to my studio. Turns out he is a great producer and a very fun guy to work with, and we ended up doing regularly very inspiring and productive sessions which resulted in a whole bunch of new tracks that we’re both very happy with! One of these tracks is Saw of Olympus, and i’m really happy to share it with you on my label Filth on Acid NOW!” - Renier Zonneveld
 
Oliver’s HI-LO alias is reserved for his deepest and darkest records, which have taken the techno scene by storm in recent months. Having released a series of tunes inspired by the Greek Gods, which garnered support from the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, UMEK, Amelie Lens, Deadmau5 and Above & Beyond amongst others, two of the songs “Zeus” & “Kronos”, landed in the top 10 of the most supported Techno tracks on 1001tracklists in 2020, which was a contributing factor to Oliver being awarded the coveted spot as the #1 most supported artist platform wide. Also in 2020, Oliver landed in the DJ Mag Top 10 for the third year in a row whilst remaining in the Top-450 most-streamed artists in the world, on Spotify!

Eine besondere Inspirationsquelle hatte @patrikberg zu seiner neuesten EP nicht: „Meine Ideen entstehen meist während des Produzierens. Ich weiß selber nie, was am Ende des Tages entsteht.“ Für „Running Numbers“ wählte der Musiker drei Werke aus, die in seinem eigenen Studio produziert wurden: „Ich habe das große Glück, dass mein Studio direkt bei mir im Haus ist, daher ist es nicht weit, und ich kann jeden Moment kreativ nutzen.“ Das Titelstück, „Running Numbers“, ist umgeben von atmosphärischen und hypnotischen Synths, die einen tollen Groove auslösen. Eine ungeheuerliche Bassdrum kombiniert mit tighten Hats macht aus der Nummer etwas Großes. (...) Erscheint am 2. Drumcode continues its commitment to releasing the scene’s most cutting-edge techno. With releases this year already from Adam Beyer, Pig&Dan, Alan Fitzpatrick, Dense & Pika and Julian Jeweil, this July see’s the return of Enrico Sangiuliano with ‘Astral Projection’.

After his remix of Moby’s of ‘Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad’ back in November last year, Enrico sought creative inspiration from his travels, transcending that into his productions and long studio sessions during the winter months. The result brings a mind and body melting release from the Italian producer.

The title track ‘Astral Projection’ is a captivating, big room techno masterpiece. Deep reverberations punch alongside a sinisterly crisp percussive drive. Launching into a groove laden synth modulation of low end textures, it breaks down into an ethereal amalgamation of pads and synths before the vocal launches, taking this track to another level.

‘Blooming Era’ has destructive dancefloor intent. There is no holding back with the low end synth modulation which Enrico has mastered to perfection. A tightly woven percussive flare moulds flawlessly with the rolling oscillations of the beast of this track.

If you have seen label head honcho Adam Beyer playing anywhere on the globe in the last 5 months, this has been a peak time favourite. Road-tested to the max, and with much success.
