@ultralowvelocity is a new project formed by French DJs and producers @antoinnnnnnnne and @a_strange_wedding. Revelling in slow-burning and intensely psychedelic rhythms and atmospheres, the duo’s distinctive, shamanistic sound evokes the sensation of time being warped, whilst embracing sudden changes of sounds and feelings, from dynamic to vapourous. 

As individual artists, the two have made their impact on both the French and European stage thanks to creative output on labels such as @worst_rec and @krakzh, as well as their involvement in Saint Etienne’s @positiveeducationfest.
Kicking off their Ultra Low Velocity project in early 2021 with an EP release on Krakzh, the duo have since had a busy post-lockdown period, taking the stage at festivals and parties across France, including at the Visions and Atom Festivals, a Krakzh label night in Rennes, and soon, the upcoming fifth edition of the Positive Education Festival.

For Patterns of Perception 87, Ultra Low Velocity have shared a snapshot of their arresting current hybrid set. Although each of their performances is unique, this recording is a perfect summation of the carefully sculpted, uniquely energetic and kaleidoscopic nature of their sound. Building from a trippy, experimental-leaning start, this set moves confidently through genres, moods and time signatures, reaching its crescendo with free-wheeling, euphoric abandon.

Just over one year since our inaugural release we present the second instalment of our annual V/A compilation series ‘Volume Two,’ whereby thirteen so-called Australian artists weave a sonic tapestry that draws from the depths of the contemporary and intertwines with a nostalgic touch of 90s psychedelia.

From ambient dreamscapes and downtempo grooves to rhythmic echoes of dub and trip-hop, ‘Volume Two’ creates a journey where reality and imagination seamlessly collide. It’s a kaleidoscope of sounds, where lush pads and intricate sound design create a piece of music that is a testament to the boundless creativity thriving in the heart of Australia’s musical landscape.

“Recorded in the later hours of an autumn evening, surrounded by candlelight and burning incense, I wanted the track selection to reflect the slower, introspective pace of the changing seasons. 

By blending the elements of ambient, dub and downtempo, my intentions were to create a woven soundscape that invites the listener to journey inward, evoking a sense of transcendence, whilst being deeply rooted in the presence of now.”

For this last episode of 2024, we are delighted to close the year with one of our local bosses @jackyjeane, part of @sarcus_soundsystem and co-founder of @effort-collectif. Passionate about deep and organic rhythms, her mixes are marked by an original energy and a transformative perspective on music as a healing force. Her immersive and contemplative style of mixing takes us deep into the hidden corners of our mind.

This mix is an invitation to take a breath and explore our thoughts and emotions. Profoundly meditative, Jacky Jeane takes us on a hypnotic and mystical spell. Weaving through energetic flows with a progressive narrative, she captures sensations that are both melancholic and introspective. From ambient to downtempo, through bass, deep dubstep and d&b, her mix unfolds like a story with movement and chapters. The shifts in BPM further contribute to creating different temporalities, guiding us through multiple layers of our subconscious.
