We have some lacerating, avant-club abstraction as @corinmusic returns to Lee Gamble’s @uiqmusic label.

Back on UIQ following 2021’s 'Enantiodromia' release. Where that explored ideas of machine learning, specifically memory retention in AI, ‘Lux Aeterna’ imagines sound as sentient across a suite of tracks indebted to sci-fi soundtracks and baroque-era beauty. It’s a fierce and forward investigation into texture through the prism of granular synthesis and club-focused concerns. 

Our premiere, ‘extasis’, finds the multidisciplinary artist marrying spectral trance and industrial maelstrom to exhilarating effect.

Precious Metals Vol.1 is the inaugural compilation from Precious Metals, a label, radio show, and club night.

Since its debut as a radio show on London’s NTS in 2012, Precious Metals has been committed to showcasing  the outer reaches of experimental club music, both locally and globally. Under the direction of DJ and producer Endgame—emerging from South London’s pioneering club collectives Bala Club and Endless. The platform has been focused on capturing the organic cross-pollination of sounds from the inner-city and the sublime chaos of the present moment.

In 2020, Precious Metals evolved into a full-fledged label, seeking to unearth artists that are visionaries on their own terms, eschewing conventional genre limitations. Representing an international roster of uncompromising, iconoclastic artists both established and emerging. Bringing an emotionally charged vulnerability to club culture.

The compilation encapsulates this ethos, and ambition, the culmination of the past 12 years of endeavour. Featuring some of the legends and emerging stars of electronic music.

United in compassion and solidarity for the Palestinian cause and its ongoing humanitarian crisis, all proceeds from the album will be donated to support efforts toward humanitarian aid in Gaza, and Palestinian emancipation.

Club Late Music and Morsel are happy to present a new addition to GUN-X __ a series of releases that enlarge the processes of collaboration beyond the borders of the Global URL Nation. For each project, members of the GUN community collaborate with members from another collective or label - exploring the results of cross-pollination and pooling across the global ecosystem of electronic music.

After an edition with Heel.zone in 2020 and with Hide Productions in 2023, we warmly welcome Morsel from the UK ! Morsel is a Manchester based label and arts platform inspired by literature and folklore, exaggerating the mysticism of our urban environments. Launched in 2023 only, their very just and sensitive approach convinced us instantly to extend the series with them.

For this one, Morsel wrote up a poem, which would serve as the primary source of inspiration to create a new track by musicians from both extended communities. 

It resulted in 17 tracks from Antonia XM, Bademjan, Clair X, Cralias, Dj Würm, Eurrope, excel dj, Flegma Joe, Griigg, Hajj, HR boat party, Ice_Eyes, Junior XL, Locre, Lucy Grey, Lukann, Older Brother, Pithe, Tobey, Yaka, Yauhei ASJ & Ziyiz.

“Never In My Born Days Did I See Such Night” is a collective exploration and experimentation into poetry as inspiration for composing music. The album oscillates between a sombre, dynamic landscape through a selection of heart-felt ambient tracks to bass driven club rhythms, mirroring the dark melancholic yet heavenly imagery painted in the poem. 

The album opens with angelic trance-like soundscapes decorated with glitches and robotic vocal elements that lead to a heavenly chorus of rich pads and textural field recordings. This feeling of euphoria is confronted with the latter half of the album drawing inspiration from deconstructed club music, flitting between sub basses and broken drum samples. The sludgy beats gather energy through the closing tracks through euro-dance-esque synths and electro-inspired drum patterns where they are met by the final track; an experimental collage of textures, computerised dialogues and dystopic sound bites that draw the compilation to a hypnotic close.

The release also comes with a zine of written contributions, which were inspired both by the original story, and by the tracks of the compilation, with Andres Komatsu, atrophene, Brice Reiter, Charlie O'Brien, Diana Serik, griddyeyes, Griigg, Ifuseekamy, julie nicol, Julieta Colantonio, l'autre champ d'eau, Léo Dubois, Le Spieman, Luz de Amor, Naledi Chai / Pillow Man, Older Brother, RAVEN, Solstice, & zozo.

The zine experiments with concrete poetry, broken narratives and long form writing as a response to the sonic landscape of the compilation. The collection delves into themes of longing, self discovery and hope through a textural lens reflected in the soundscapes of the album. Visual elements accompany the text facilitating melancholic narratives through depictions and arrangements of words, collage and graphics supporting the project.

For one year, all proceeds of the compilation will go towards Medical Aid for Palestinians. After that, the release will be proposed as Name Your Price, like all our other ones, and benefits will be reinvested into CLM & Morsel for upcoming projects and functioning costs. Ellende is the first single of Strange Days forthcoming on Signal Life 17.05.19

Amsterdam-based duo Know V.A. is one of the voices in the current renaissance of Dutch early hardcore.

Driven by the search for the new, the two producers strip down the hard dance music they know until only the core principles remain. With the sheen of brute violence removed, a softer and more intricate existence appears. Their music is synthetic. For the duo, this unnatural sound aligns with people’s obsession to control and manufacture the world around them.

The new record ‘Strange Days’ on Signal Life tells a story about a disintegrating world in which its inhabitants are paralyzed by the weight of impending doom. Whether it’s global warming, a potential nuclear war or a crumbling society.

“With this record we tried to grasp some of this zeitgeist, as well as picture a possible future. While there’s hope; the end is in sight. How does contemporary music sound like amidst this realization? It definitely brings forward a certain recklessness. It’s strange days now.”

Over the last years, Know V.A. have gained an international reputation. In between touring Asia and Europe, they’ve hosted a series of 'Strange Days' club nights in Amsterdam, which seeks to showcase contemporary hardcore and explore how the genre, sonically and aesthetically has remained active in the underground. Their aim is to create a cross-cultural event, by making surprising combinations of source and inspiration, older and newer names, Dutch and international talent next to each other on the line-up.
