Snow Ghosts is the collaboration between Throwing Snow & Augustus Ghost.

Recently releasing debut album ‘A Small Murmuration’, Snow Ghosts have been The Guardian’s ‘New Band of the Day’, Zane Lowe’s ‘Next Hype’, and have played a live acoustic session on Dermot O’Leary’s BBC Radio 2 show.  

A calmer moment from the debut album ‘A Small Murmuration’, ‘Secret Garden’ has proven a live favourite, with its tumbling drums and infectious vocal refrains. On this particular track composer and multi-instrumentalist Richard Skelton deconstructs Secret Garden into solemn, yet evocative ambience, whilst also on the EP, Matthew Herbert coaxes it onto the dancefloor with typically idiosyncratic verve (provided in instrumental form as a digital bonus). Rounding off a truly eclectic package, album contributor and sonic obsessive Blue Daisy welcomes Hey!Zeus under his Dahlia Black umbrella to provide a heavyweight horrorcore hip-hop take on ‘Covenant’.

'Double Divide' is the debut LP from Second Storey, released on Houndstooth on October 6th 2014.

Describing the music on Double Divide, Second Storey says: "The title of the album, 'Double Divide' refers to the different ideas I found myself exploring as the album progressed, relating to tension and release. The 'Double' being the double-intensity beat driven tracks and the 'Divide' being the antidote in the form of the ambient or more introspective moments." This duality is on display throughout the album, which hints at his wide-ranging influences, from the complex rhythmic structures and emotive melodic phrases of Aphex Twin and Autechre, the funk of Prince to Parliament, the crazed robotics of Drexciya and the raw techno sludge of Cristian Vogel and Neil Landstrumm, right through to dark drum and bass of artists like Ed Rush & Optical.

Besides founding her label, Danse Noire, releasing leftfield electronic music from the likes of IVVVO and Vaghe Stelle, Swiss-born, Nepalese-Tibetan electronic producer @aisha-devi’s latest solo productions are further testament to her personal evolution. The ‘Conscious Cunt’ EP explores different perspectives on womanhood and the dichotomy between materialistic femininity under societal pressure and spirituality.

“It’s an EP about sluts, awareness, death, and women in a patriarchal society… enlightenment, violence, resistance, mothers, daughters, consciousness, Guy Debord, Vedas and eternity. It's also a high-five to my grandmother who raised me and passed away early this year.” - Aïsha Devi

Lead track ‘Kim & The Wheel of Life’ is a whirling melodic vortex of melancholic echoing synths underlaid by deep rumbling kicks that morphs into a vocal-centric piece. The beatless ‘Aurat’, Devi’s second ‘vox tool’ of a series, is an Urdu/Hindi poem written by Pakistani feminist, Kishwar Naheed. Finally, ‘The Saviour on Spilled Blood’, a reference to motherhood, is a slow-building epic, using Devi’s dark, chanting voice to accumulate energy and emotion.

Akkord return with their first original music since June 2014’s ‘HTH020’ EP. ‘Obelisk’ is a study in rhythm and frequencies, suspended in space. 

On the minimalistic ‘Monolith’, a single element is moulded into a 3-dimensional sound sculpture, an aural illusion of a lead weight that floats away into the ether. 

In contrast, ‘Megalith’ has a pulsing gravity, drawing in laser-guided blasts of bass, broadsides of pitched-down jungle, and echoes of distant birdsong and telecommunications as it journeys through the static of space.
