The Body Language album series has been a flagship for the Get Physical label since the mid-noughties, with instalments taken over by Dixon, DJ Hell, Francesco Tristano, DJ T., and many more. Now the label welcomes the excellent Cioz into the hot set. Volume 23 is packed with Cioz remixes, collaborations, and standout singles from the well-regarded and self-taught artist. Some are brand new, some have been teased on EPs in the lead up to the full release, but each one proves he is an artist with an accomplished sound. “Jandía” is the breath-taking second single taken from Spanish AFFKT’s upcoming new “The Big Picture” studio album. The LP is set to be released later this summer via Mobilee. For this new single, AFFKT built a striking and dreamlike polyhydric shapes tech-disco cut.   

Captivating music that pays tribute to beautiful Jandía, a peninsula in the south-western part of the island of Fuerteventura (Canary Islands). A nature reserve with gigantic sandy beaches that AFFKT now wants us to visualize through his music.

Release Info: 
Legendary German duo Frankey & Sandrino will be inaugurating Crosstown Rebels’ 2022 release schedule in January. The two-track Optical will act as the label’s first release of the year, signalling a major occasion for the pairing.

Both artists spoke on what the release embodies, stating: “Optical is an expression of our darker sides and desire to go deeper into people’s consciousness. Without the kick you’re left with an abstract, morphing soundscape. A sense of melancholy and discomfort, but also a sense of hope. It’s those emotions, the dark and the light, that we always try to find in our music.”

The title track opens proceedings, taking the form of a hypnotic dance cut packed full of atmospheric pads and haunting vocal tones. Gentle hats marry up with whirring synth lines, whilst a subtle bassline chugs along beside. Gridd takes on a softer edge, rounding off the release in a haze of starry-eyed warmth. Ambient notes reside next to instrumental sounds throughout, as we’re drawn into an ethereal, dream-like world.

Frankey & Sandrino, based in Essen and Berlin respectively, have been making music together for just over a decade. In that time, their rich, detailed style has graced the upper-echelons of house and techno’s worthiest institutions, garnering a legacy of releases on labels such as Innervisions, Mule Musiq, Kompakt and Diynamic. The impact of tracks such as Acamar, Mercury or Chimes has paved the way for the unstoppable rise of Frankey & Sandrino, marking the pair as a standout act within the global electronic music scene.

Dieses Gedicht von Hermann Allmers gibt treffend das Gefühl wieder, welches No Sé Leon überkommt, wenn er sich in seinem Element der Musik befindet. Im Moment zu sein, sich selbst zu vergessen und wie in einem meditativen Zustand, eins mit dem Raum der einen umgibt zu sein. Dies macht für ihn den Reiz aus sich mit Musik zu beschäftigen und das hört man bei jedem Takt seiner deep story. Zudem bekommen aufmerksame Zuhörer einen Eindruck der EP, die demnächst auf deep stories records erscheinen wird.
