For our 17th release, House Not House bring you something seriously darkside from one of our absolute favourite producers in UK house - ravers, from KG3 it’s the Amnesty EP.

KG3 is best known as one the founding members and leading producers on London’s Strange Static label where he’s been pushing a unique and deadly take on deep tech since 2013. Fusing moody atmospherics with a rave-destorying sensibility, the sound is unmistakably made-in-London and his EP with us bares all the hallmarks of the drum and bass, garage and grime music he grew up listening to.

Title track ‘Amnesty’ is a darkside stomper aimed straight at the dancefloor. Centred around a sample of a police announcing a public safety initiative, the sample is mischievously flipped to chilling effect with the emphasis on how ‘it’s frightening to think what could be on our streets’… Musically too, the tune’s dark to its core, with a jittery half-step rhythm and a massive and squelchy bassline oozing with echo. Not for the easily scared.

On the second track KG3 comes altogether more techy with ‘Let Go’. A space-aged roller, the track builds up around an arpeggiated synth-line and hypnotically swirling pads before dropping into cavernous one-note bassline replete with alien bleeps and sweeps. The tune picks up even more energy when the whip-lash open high hat comes in, creating a groovy swing perfect for the shape-cutting massive. Then on the second build, things get spacey as it cuts back to just the spine-tingling synths and then the thudding kick drum, creating an eery energy before the second drop. 

Finally KG3 brings the swing with the high octane ‘Krazy’. The most upbeat track of the bunch, but still strange and alien, the drums skip along with an old-skool garage infliction while the bassline competes with the fluttering acid synth and the cold-blooded Predator sample - ’ this is not about money… it’s about power’ - creating a vibe both spooky and bouncy. Something different!

If you’re talking about the darker side of UK house, then KG3’s one of the dons. When we first started talking about working together, we were hoping he’d cook us up some fire and our man did not disappoint. Handle this one with caution!

KG3はロンドンにて活躍するレーベルStrange Staticの共同創設者であり、同レーベルのスタートラックメーカーとして知られている。2013からダンスフロアー向けの極端にダーク、ユニークなスタイルを磨いてきた。ロンドン郊外の深夜を連想させる陰気な音景に、軍隊行進曲のようなドラムトラックとダンスフロアーを揺るがせるディープなベース：KG3の作る音は最先端でありながらDrum'n'BassやGrimeなどの影響が強く伝わる。

火器大赦のアナウンスをサンプリングするタイトルトラック「Amnesty」は悪意に満ちている。スイングのかかったハーフステップリズムとベースラインのエコーが絡み合い展開する。

「Let Go」は彼ならではのアープシンセのモーチフに、飛び回るパッドシンセや飛び散る宇宙的効果音。太いワンショットベースラインとトラップ系ハイハットを加えることで、Shuffler向けのグルーブが完成。ビルドは、鳴り響くシンセやディープなキックだけ残し、徐々ましてくる緊張感が極に達すると、ベースがすごい勢いで戻り、セコンドドロップで再びぶっ飛ばす。

このEPでは最もアップビートな「Krazy」はオールドスクールGarageっぽいリズムに、アシッドシンセと重いベースラインから成り立つ。しかしこのアンセムを完成させる最後の一仕上げはPredatorのサンプル：「お金ではなく、威力だ！」。

UK Houseのダークサイドときたら、KG3は屈指のトラックメーカーに違いない。危険物なので、要注意

Ravers! We’ve been keeping this one under wraps for a minute, but we could not be excited the latest project. Back in March, HNH had the guys from Audio Rehab London over for a roadblock party here in Tokyo. Following on from that we all agreed we needed a release to commemorate the occasion - HNH 016 - The Betty Ford EP is the result. 

Featuring a track each from none other than Mark Radford and RS4 and a remix from House Not House’s very own Frankie Dollar it’s been a long time coming, but I think you’ll all agree it was worth the wait. 
Track 1 ‘Certified Hott’, is a Mark Radford banger through and through. Built around and old skool hip-hop hook, the track combines chunky drums with emotional teched-out synths and cavernous bassline designed for maximum dancefloor damage. Watch for the naughty acid line that slithers in halfway through! Techy and soulful, rude and melodic - this is UK house in a nutshell and as it says on the tin - it’s certified hot. 

Next up is RS4’s darkside roller ‘Invention’. Keep your wits about you ‘cause this one’s technical. 808 hats ’n’ claps are coiled into a slinky rhythm, guaranteed to get the shape-cutters in the zone. Meanwhile the dark, stabbing synth line cuts across the undulating sub-bass, creating a seriously evil vibe. It harks back to the bleep ’n’ bass techno of RS4’s Sheffield home town and calls forward to a dystopian future both intergalactic and subterranean. ‘An innovation’ indeed.

Finally, on his remix of ‘Certified Hott’, HNH co-fonder Frankie Dollar makes his House Not House debut and flips the original on its head. Here Frankie runs with the gangster vibe to create a raw cut of future G-tech. Combining whip-crack hats, Lex-Luther trap chants and grunts, and a rolling deep-tech bassline to create something 100% attitude. Emotive sino-grime melodies play counterpoint to the rudebwoy menace, while the build halfway thought gets nice and spooky and strips things back before the monster second drop.

やっと情報解禁！レーベル立ち上げからずっとHNHの夢だったAudio Rehabの来日が今年三月に実現。大盛り上がりの一夜は私たちの記憶に強く焼き付けられているがご来場頂けなかった皆様のためと、記念したいという思いで特別EPをリリースすることに。その成果はこちら、HNH016 – The Betty Ford EP.　Audio RehabのボスであるMark Radford、伝説的トラックメーカーRS4とHouse Not Houseの共同創立者であるFrankie Dollarからオリジナル2曲とリミックス一曲。つまり、今までの流れに於いては異例の進展で大きな一歩。

リードトラックはMark RadfordのCertified Hott。曲名通り、彼独特のスタイルは徹頭徹尾ダンスフロア向け。オールドスクールなヒップホップヴォーカルのモチーフに、どこかエモーショナルなシンセやウネりまくる重いベースラインを加える。異類のパーツの組み合わせが絶妙。途中で入ってくるダーティなアシッドシンセラインが抜群にカッコ良し。高揚感がありながらもハード、これぞUK HOUSE!

次はRS4から極めてテクニカルな一曲、Invention。RS4得意のスペイシーなシンセや808のドラムサウンドが混ざり合い展開するキラー・チューン。効果音、リバーブを使いこなしたRS4の描きだす雰囲気は半分Bleep’n’Bass時代のSheffield市、半分遠い未来のディストピア。サウンドトラック的なリッチさがあるかもしれないが、間違いなくこれはShufflerたちの耳を惹くダンスフロアアンセム。

最後に、House Not Houseの共同創設者Frankie Dollarがまったく新しい視点からMark RadfordのCertified Hotを解釈。Lex Luther風味なハイハットとトラップなボイスサンプルを散りばめ、極めてギャングスターな音色をたたき出す。太くダークなベースラインとSino-Grime風のメロディーが対照的で新鮮。途中でベースを切りドラム音を抑え、メロディーを強調。どこか不安そうなシンセが告げる：これはSecond Dropが炸裂する寸前、あらしの前の静けさ。
最先端なUK Houseキラー・チューンを3曲収録したこのリリース、必聴！
