For our second release, House Not House are proud to present the debut EP from Birmingham’s Mr P. With his 3 tracks here, P shows off his future fusion of Brummy bassline and tweaked-out tech house. On Fading Away, the spooky synth tones and crooning original vocals from Wynter Black struggle against the globular bassline, creating a high-impact psychodrama, sure to keep ravers checking over their shoulders while cutting shapes. FSU shows P in full beast-mode, with Black returning for a barnstorming vocal performance that is guaranteed to FSU on dancefloors across the globe. Finally, on The Finest, P brings an old school flavour to his remix of the RnB classic, Kelis’ Finest Dreams, but keeps it fresh with his slinky-but-taut rhythms aimed squarely at the shufflers pleasure points. House Not House第二弾としてバーミンガムのMr. PのデビューEPをリリースできることを誇りに思う。本3曲でMr. Pはバーミンガムらしいベースラインと一ひねり利かせたテックハウスを見事に合わせた。「Fading Away」にWynter Blackのオリジナルヴォーカル。不気味なシンセラインや丸みを帯びたベースがぶつかり合う。「FSU」（＝F*ck Sh*t Up）もWynter Blackのオリジナルヴォーカルであり、曲名どおり世界中のクラブを「FSU」するだろう。
最後に、「The Finest」で、R’n’Bのクラシックに新たな息を吹きかけ、Shuffler（ダンサー）のツボを突く。Mr. Pの作り出す音。全身で感じろ。

With HNH 005 we take it back to the core Deep Tech sound with 4 screwface stompers from Wolverhampton native Digital Danger. Danger’s first musical love was DnB à la Andy C and Randall, and you can hear that in his intricate polyrhythms and dubby basslines. But, what really stands out from his productions is a dramatic, cinematic quality that comes from his love of movie composers such as Steve Jablonsky and Hans Zimmer. On title track Renegade Acid, Gregorian monk chants vie with robot voices against a caustic bassline to play out a sci-fi drama of galactic proportions. The clue’s in the name with Intimidation, a menacing, darkside number that features a boxer hyping himself up before a fight. It builds with eery space-bleeps and swelling bass-pulses and drops into a high-NRG serrated wobble, guaranteed to intimidate all but the hardcore and headstrong. Chinese Whispers is the moodiest, with its deep, dubbed-out bassline, hair-raising atmospheric sweeps and a minor-key Kung Fu movie melody straight out of classic Sino-Grime. Finally, on Ingredients of House, Danger teaches us how to build a House track - “This is true house music” he says, though with it’s unchained metallic bass wobs and punishing military snares, we’re not so sure they’d let this one into your average deep house party! Four twisted riddims from a producer just hitting his stride: cop the tracks and watch this space!

当リリースでは路線をガチDeep  Techに戻し、クラブでのピークタイムにリワインドを狙う。
Andy CやRandallなどを聴いて育ったDigital Dangerの複雑なリズムやダブ系ベースには確かにドラムンの影響を受けているとみれるが、彼はクラブミュージック以外にもSteven JablonskyやHans  Zimmerなど、映画のサウンドトラックを手がけるコンポーザーにもハマっていた。サウンドトラックらしく陰気なシンセやパッドを使いこなし、ドラマティックな雰囲気がDigital Dangerならではのサウンド。
タイトルトラックRenegade Acidはグレゴリオ聖歌を思わせる詠唱と機械音の様なヴォーカルの対比音で作られたバックグラウンドが最高に不気味。これに痛烈なベーストーンや太いビートを乗せ、とてつもなくハードなサウンドをキメる。
Intimidation（直訳：「威嚇」）では、曲名どおりダンサーを脅かす。その唯一の目的の元で作られた代表作。試合を直前に控えたボクサーのインタビューのサンプルや、徐々に迫ってくるシンセで緊張度を上げていく。「リングの上で俺は神になる。俺を倒せる奴は誰一人としていない」と、ほぼグライムに近いノリでいきなりドロップ。要するに、やばい。
このEPではもっともムーディな曲、Chinese Whispers。哀調を帯びたSino-Grime系のメロディとゲキディープベースとの釣り合いは鳥肌ものだ。
最後にIngredients of Houseのサンプルでは「汽水のHouse  Musicの作り方」を教えながら最高に邪道な4x4 Grime Houseでフロアを狂わせる。

For our 7th release we’re very excited to welcome the Studio 37 team to the HNH roster. East London born, bred and based, Studio 37 have been slowly building their profile since launching a year ago with a regular show on ModeFM, a string of free downloads and two releases on Mokujin records. Made up of track-maker Dean Allen and DJ & media man Theo ‘Stretch’ Lewis, in a short period of time they have forged a sound totally and uniquely their own. Hitting the sweet ’n’ strange spot between minimal techno, bleep ’n’ bass and classic grime; this is house, but not as we know it. Title track I’m Doing Me is the banger, with the manically looped ‘do it’ vocal, the hollow bassline dripping with reverb, atmospheric sparkles and gunshots locking together to create a high-octane dark energy. Nights In Moscow is stranger, spookier and seemingly slower. Stripped back to just chain-rattling percussion, a whomping bassline and eery demon voices, it doesn’t take an exorcist to see that this House is haunted. Finally, with Range, Dean Allen conjures up a cold, alien landscape, with deformed, minor key synth sweeps and forlorn sighs playing against the deep echoing bass. Summer music this is not. Studio 37 are taking the rave to the darkside, will you join them?

HNH007弾目で生粋の東ロンドン人であるDean AllenとTheo ’Stretch’ Lewisで成り立つStudio 37。Deanはトラックメーカー兼DJ、Theoはメディア・プロモーション担当者兼DJ。
一年前から本格的に音楽活動を進め、彼らならではの最低限なDeep TechサウンドをMode FMのレギュラーショーで披露し、Mokujin Recordsでリリース。Minimal・Bleep・Grimeの合流点でハウスの枠を超えた、独特のサウンドを開発。
タイトルトラック「I’m Doing Me」では飛び回るヴォーカル。鈍く響く低いベースや発砲音。これらの異る音が寄り合って推進力の持ったビートを作る。
「Nights in Moscow」は悪魔のような不気味なヴォーカルや骨がカタカタ言うような打楽器と、規則的に鼓動する太いベースを組み合わせ、緊張感を産み出す。
最後に、「Range」は音で実現する異世界への扉。孤独なわびしいヴォーカルを中心に催眠状態に陥らせるような展開は4AMのクラブにしっくり。
ハウスを再定義しつつも、いかにもUKらしいこのリリースをぜひ聴いてほしい。

Ravers! It’s been a while but we’re back with round 2 of our UKHR mix and interview series and we’ve got some very special guests lined up for you! Today’s guests are two veterans of the UK rave scene who’ve been carving a big name for themselves these last few years with their own totally unique and totally raucous take on the deep tech sound. It’s Strange Static head honchos Perch MC & Arun Vybe, and let’s just say you’ll be hearing plenty about them in the coming months: both in the UK and over here in Japan!

UKHR MIX 002 - Aaron Vybe & Perch MC (Strange Static)

For our 12th release, HNH regular Karlton Phillips is taking us back to the old skool with the Acid Slaps EP. 

The title track is a chunky cut of ‘ardcore ‘ouse. Combining Karlton’s trademark, razor-sharp percussion, chopped-up Todd Terry style hip-house vocals and 90s rave synth stabs all tied together with a huge rolling bassline. This one’s “for the DJs out there”, and we know you guys are gonna do some damage with it!

On second track ‘Up Above ’89’, Karlton ramps the euphoria up to 11. With its infectious vocal hook, bitter-sweet piano chords and bubbly organ melody, ‘Up Above’ comes like an unearthed gem from the golden days of New Jeresy house. Head back, eyes closed, hands in the air - the track asks us to “feel the rhythm of house” and we oblige.

Final track ‘Jackin Up The House’ is a deep and sultry number aimed square at the late night/early morning dancefloor sweet-spot. The piano stabs and the tight jackin drums hark backwards, but the glitched-out vocal licks keep things fresh and future. 

Bringing together 3 old skool grooves with a 2k16  sheen and swagger, Karlton Phillips’ only gone and done it again.

オールドスクールハウスの決まりを破り、90年代始まりの定番音源を新たな形で再構築。
 
タイトルトラック「Acid Slaps」ではアグレシッブなレーブシンセとTodd Terry風Hip-Hopヴォーカルを太いテックハウスベースラインでくっつける。DJにとっての最強な武器。

2曲目に収録されている「Up Above ‘89」は甘党ピアノハウス。どこか懐かしい歌声と、「ハウスのリズムを感じろ」と繰り返すヴォーカルの魔力に耐えるレーバーはいない。深海に沈みこむような気持ち良い多幸感ハウスは深夜のセットにぴったり！

３曲目、「Jackin Up The House」もアンセムくさい。なんだかセクシーな女性ヴォーカルと、歌いたくなるタイムレスなメロディの釣り合わせが最強にキャッチー。クラブ帰りでも歌い続ける。

House Not House are back with our 13th release, and this time we’re taking you darker and deeper with The Hunter EP from Birmingham’s Antonio Noure. 

First making his name in the Midlands' bassline scene with his twisted signature sound, Noure is a prodigiously talented producer who turns everything he touches - from grime to trap and hip hop - into dark gold. With his recent house productions Noure has displayed a unique ear for the UK sound, and on on his EP with us he’s gone and stripped deep tech down to its rawest elements.

Title track ‘The Hunter’ is an evil underground anthem that’s been tearing up and freaking out the pirate radio and rave scene across the UK and Japan for the last 6 months. A reverberating synth line, wolf howls, razor sharp metallic hats and a huge pulsating bassline - the track combines its sparse elements into something otherworldly and deeply eery. Wait for the choir for maximum goosebump raising, existential-epiphany-on-the-dancefloor effect. A monster riddim guaranteed to bring out the werewolves in any crowd.

On the flip, Noure keeps it noir with the stomping ‘Tigerstyle’. With its whip-crack snares and hats, and its gritty/groovy bassline this one’s custom made for the shuffling massize. The devil’s in the details though, and its the stalactite synths, glittering rainforest percussion and chopped up, ephemeral vocal shots that give the track its evil edge and will keep late night DJs reaching for it again and again.

HNH013としてバーミンガム市出身トラックメーカーAntonio NoureによるダークかつディープなガチUKハウスEP、’The Hunter’をリリース。
彼は2000年代後半で盛り上がったイギリス中部地方のベースラインシーンのトラックメーカーとして知られている。現在、トラップやハウスなど複数ジャンルで活躍できるダイナミックなアーティストとして急上昇している。

今回のEPは装飾を廃して無駄をそぎ落とした最低限の音で構成されたDeep Tech。残るのはピュアなUKサウンド。
タイトルトラックThe HunterはUKのアンダーグラウンドハウスシーンではすでにアンセム化しており、クラブやラジオで多くプレイされている。太いベースラインに金属的なハイハットや狼の遠吠えを織り交ぜ、最高にダークサイドな雰囲気を作り出す。この曲のモチーフである合唱団の声がその暗闇から響いてきて陶酔感を誘う。

Tigerstyleはシュッフラーのために作られた完全フロア向けのDeep Tech。グル―ヴィ―なベースライン、宇宙からの厳選FX、バシッと響くスネアとどこかメランコリックなメロディーからなる、5AMのクラブアンセム。

For our 14th EP, we are very excited to announce that JustJosh is back on HNH with the psychotropic 3-track K Hole EP!

Title track ‘K Hole’ is teched-out roller, an ode to the dissociative state when you reach beyond the ‘K Hole’ into the K Land. At the core of the track is a massive globular basslines that seems to drip from the walls, while sparkling synths swirl around the soundspace to create an eery disjointed vibe. Watch for the stripped back build before the second drop where time itself stands still. Strictly for the headstrong.

Second track ‘Changes’ is a spooky space-aged drama, and the hardest of the bunch. Squelchy synths play in a moody minor key, while tight techy drums provide the propulsion. But it’s really all about the angry arpeggiated bassline which brings to mind a swarm of robots plotting to destroy us.   

Finally on ‘Chicago’, JustJosh mixes it up with something altogether groovier. Beginning with a skippy wood-block beat, dropping into a chunky tech house bassline, and then building with some tropical steel drum vibez. Things get #emotional when he cuts everything back, leaving a swooning synth pad melody that tugs at the heartstrings. Brimming with ideas, JustJosh has tracks here for every occasion from the depths of a K-hole to the setting suns of Ibiza. Join him on his journey and cop them.

タイトルトラック「K-Hole」は、ケタミンのやりすぎでバットに入った状態から名づけられている。
キラキラとしたシンセが高音域に舞い上がり、底から太くディープなベースラインが沸きこぼれてくる。セコンドドロップで必要最低限な音に絞り、まるで時間を停止させるような感覚。これぞ、幻覚誘発性アンセム。使用にご注意を！

次は「Changes」はこのリリースのもっともハードな一曲。短調を主張とした、冷たい質感を持つシンセやテッキーなリズム。圧倒的なアルペッジョベースラインが異性生命体による地球侵略を連想させる。
「Chicago」ではまったく違う線を責める。シンコペーションのリズムとテックハウスベースラインが絡み合い、スチールドラムでモチーフを加える。
K-Holeのように緊張させる暗い音から、イビサ島の日暮れにぴったりの音まで、Just Joshのイマジネーションには限りがない

Ravers! Hot on the heels of our September party announcement, we’ve got some big news with the label to tie into it! In celebration of Karlton Phillips, Mr P, and Kaylah’s Japan debut, we are very excited to announce that HNH015 - The Homecoming mini-album will be out on Friday 9th September!

Featuring 3 tracks each from Karlton Phillips, Mr P and Kaylah, which serves as a tidy survey of the current sounds of the UK tech underground, and in a nutshell sums up what House Not House are all about.

From Karlton we’ve got the long-awaited trill-tech anthem ‘Girls U Like’ (watch for the second drop, jeeeze!), the bubbly roots reggae, garage house  and UK tech hybrid of ‘This Poem’, and the slinky tech house grooves of ‘Papi’.

Mr P starts things off and shuts things down with the seriously spooky, dark and dangerous ‘Afraid 2 Die’, then he takes things back to the old skool with his ’89 inspired ‘ardkore ‘ouse cut ‘Attitude’ and finishes with the deeply psychedelic, synesthetic and experimental LSD’.

Finally Kaylah comes in hard with the chest-rattling, floor shaking, earth-quaking bass heavy banger that is ‘Something’. He then totally switches it up with ‘Trendsettah’, that fuses jungle, grime and tech-house for something that sounds like nothing on this planet, and then closing out the album with the strange, sludgy and subterranean sounds of ‘Let Go’.

Nine tracks, nine vibez, and three artists you need to know! Cop the sounds on Friday the 9th Sep, then catch them live at Circus Tokyo on Saturday the 10th! Do not sleep!

レーバーの皆様、HNHの次のイベント（９月１０日）情報を公開したばかりですが、また大事なお知らせがあります！

HNHの初期からリリースしているKarlton Phillips・Mr. P・Kaylahの日本デビューを記念すべく、三人から三曲ずつを集め「The Homecoming」ミニアルバムをイベントの前日(９月９日)にリリース致します。イギリスのアンダーグラウンドハウスシーンを網羅しつつ、House Not Houseのビジョンを代表する９曲です。

Karlton Phillipsからは、トラップとハウスの異種の要素を巧妙に織り交ぜた「Girls U Like」、ルーツレゲェの魂をGarage Houseのテンプレートに溶け込ませた「This Poem」とセクシーなテックアンセム「Papi」。

Mr Pからは、悪気のこもったダークサイドハウス「Afraid 2 Die」、‘89年風アシッドハウスをアップデートした「Attitude」とダンスフロア―を沸かせるサイケデリックなBanger、「LSD」。

Kaylahからは、震度8でダンスフロアを揺らせる「Something」、ジャングル・グライムを混ぜた雑種ハウス「Trendsettah」と、圧倒的に重い最先端ハウス「Let Go」。

Ravers! We’ve been keeping this one under wraps for a minute, but we could not be excited the latest project. Back in March, HNH had the guys from Audio Rehab London over for a roadblock party here in Tokyo. Following on from that we all agreed we needed a release to commemorate the occasion - HNH 016 - The Betty Ford EP is the result. 

Featuring a track each from none other than Mark Radford and RS4 and a remix from House Not House’s very own Frankie Dollar it’s been a long time coming, but I think you’ll all agree it was worth the wait. 
Track 1 ‘Certified Hott’, is a Mark Radford banger through and through. Built around and old skool hip-hop hook, the track combines chunky drums with emotional teched-out synths and cavernous bassline designed for maximum dancefloor damage. Watch for the naughty acid line that slithers in halfway through! Techy and soulful, rude and melodic - this is UK house in a nutshell and as it says on the tin - it’s certified hot. 

Next up is RS4’s darkside roller ‘Invention’. Keep your wits about you ‘cause this one’s technical. 808 hats ’n’ claps are coiled into a slinky rhythm, guaranteed to get the shape-cutters in the zone. Meanwhile the dark, stabbing synth line cuts across the undulating sub-bass, creating a seriously evil vibe. It harks back to the bleep ’n’ bass techno of RS4’s Sheffield home town and calls forward to a dystopian future both intergalactic and subterranean. ‘An innovation’ indeed.

Finally, on his remix of ‘Certified Hott’, HNH co-fonder Frankie Dollar makes his House Not House debut and flips the original on its head. Here Frankie runs with the gangster vibe to create a raw cut of future G-tech. Combining whip-crack hats, Lex-Luther trap chants and grunts, and a rolling deep-tech bassline to create something 100% attitude. Emotive sino-grime melodies play counterpoint to the rudebwoy menace, while the build halfway thought gets nice and spooky and strips things back before the monster second drop.

やっと情報解禁！レーベル立ち上げからずっとHNHの夢だったAudio Rehabの来日が今年三月に実現。大盛り上がりの一夜は私たちの記憶に強く焼き付けられているがご来場頂けなかった皆様のためと、記念したいという思いで特別EPをリリースすることに。その成果はこちら、HNH016 – The Betty Ford EP.　Audio RehabのボスであるMark Radford、伝説的トラックメーカーRS4とHouse Not Houseの共同創立者であるFrankie Dollarからオリジナル2曲とリミックス一曲。つまり、今までの流れに於いては異例の進展で大きな一歩。

リードトラックはMark RadfordのCertified Hott。曲名通り、彼独特のスタイルは徹頭徹尾ダンスフロア向け。オールドスクールなヒップホップヴォーカルのモチーフに、どこかエモーショナルなシンセやウネりまくる重いベースラインを加える。異類のパーツの組み合わせが絶妙。途中で入ってくるダーティなアシッドシンセラインが抜群にカッコ良し。高揚感がありながらもハード、これぞUK HOUSE!

次はRS4から極めてテクニカルな一曲、Invention。RS4得意のスペイシーなシンセや808のドラムサウンドが混ざり合い展開するキラー・チューン。効果音、リバーブを使いこなしたRS4の描きだす雰囲気は半分Bleep’n’Bass時代のSheffield市、半分遠い未来のディストピア。サウンドトラック的なリッチさがあるかもしれないが、間違いなくこれはShufflerたちの耳を惹くダンスフロアアンセム。

最後に、House Not Houseの共同創設者Frankie Dollarがまったく新しい視点からMark RadfordのCertified Hotを解釈。Lex Luther風味なハイハットとトラップなボイスサンプルを散りばめ、極めてギャングスターな音色をたたき出す。太くダークなベースラインとSino-Grime風のメロディーが対照的で新鮮。途中でベースを切りドラム音を抑え、メロディーを強調。どこか不安そうなシンセが告げる：これはSecond Dropが炸裂する寸前、あらしの前の静けさ。
最先端なUK Houseキラー・チューンを3曲収録したこのリリース、必聴！

For our 17th release, House Not House bring you something seriously darkside from one of our absolute favourite producers in UK house - ravers, from KG3 it’s the Amnesty EP.

KG3 is best known as one the founding members and leading producers on London’s Strange Static label where he’s been pushing a unique and deadly take on deep tech since 2013. Fusing moody atmospherics with a rave-destorying sensibility, the sound is unmistakably made-in-London and his EP with us bares all the hallmarks of the drum and bass, garage and grime music he grew up listening to.

Title track ‘Amnesty’ is a darkside stomper aimed straight at the dancefloor. Centred around a sample of a police announcing a public safety initiative, the sample is mischievously flipped to chilling effect with the emphasis on how ‘it’s frightening to think what could be on our streets’… Musically too, the tune’s dark to its core, with a jittery half-step rhythm and a massive and squelchy bassline oozing with echo. Not for the easily scared.

On the second track KG3 comes altogether more techy with ‘Let Go’. A space-aged roller, the track builds up around an arpeggiated synth-line and hypnotically swirling pads before dropping into cavernous one-note bassline replete with alien bleeps and sweeps. The tune picks up even more energy when the whip-lash open high hat comes in, creating a groovy swing perfect for the shape-cutting massive. Then on the second build, things get spacey as it cuts back to just the spine-tingling synths and then the thudding kick drum, creating an eery energy before the second drop. 

Finally KG3 brings the swing with the high octane ‘Krazy’. The most upbeat track of the bunch, but still strange and alien, the drums skip along with an old-skool garage infliction while the bassline competes with the fluttering acid synth and the cold-blooded Predator sample - ’ this is not about money… it’s about power’ - creating a vibe both spooky and bouncy. Something different!

If you’re talking about the darker side of UK house, then KG3’s one of the dons. When we first started talking about working together, we were hoping he’d cook us up some fire and our man did not disappoint. Handle this one with caution!

House Not Houseが長い間憧れてきたトラックメーカーKG3からダークサイド極まるEPをHNH0017にてリリース。

KG3はロンドンにて活躍するレーベルStrange Staticの共同創設者であり、同レーベルのスタートラックメーカーとして知られている。2013からダンスフロアー向けの極端にダーク、ユニークなスタイルを磨いてきた。ロンドン郊外の深夜を連想させる陰気な音景に、軍隊行進曲のようなドラムトラックとダンスフロアーを揺るがせるディープなベース：KG3の作る音は最先端でありながらDrum'n'BassやGrimeなどの影響が強く伝わる。

火器大赦のアナウンスをサンプリングするタイトルトラック「Amnesty」は悪意に満ちている。スイングのかかったハーフステップリズムとベースラインのエコーが絡み合い展開する。

「Let Go」は彼ならではのアープシンセのモーチフに、飛び回るパッドシンセや飛び散る宇宙的効果音。太いワンショットベースラインとトラップ系ハイハットを加えることで、Shuffler向けのグルーブが完成。ビルドは、鳴り響くシンセやディープなキックだけ残し、徐々ましてくる緊張感が極に達すると、ベースがすごい勢いで戻り、セコンドドロップで再びぶっ飛ばす。

このEPでは最もアップビートな「Krazy」はオールドスクールGarageっぽいリズムに、アシッドシンセと重いベースラインから成り立つ。しかしこのアンセムを完成させる最後の一仕上げはPredatorのサンプル：「お金ではなく、威力だ！」。

UK Houseのダークサイドときたら、KG3は屈指のトラックメーカーに違いない。危険物なので、要注意

HNH018 is here and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome back to the label a familiar face with a new alias and sound. For our 18th release we bring you the Darkness EP by J.Sono, who graced House Not House with one of our spookiest and spaciest EPs ever way back on HNH005 under the alias Digital Danger. With the J.Sono project, he’s honed his sound down to the raw elements of rhythm, texture and sub bass to create a unique ‘techno not techno’ sound.

Leading off with ‘You Want Me’, J.Sono comes in deep and groovy. Hypnotic’s the word here as the vocal refrain loops around the funked out bassline while high pitch synths swirl like dubbed out police sirens adding an eery edge to the groove.

The clue’s in the name with title track ‘Darkness’ as Sono takes us on a journey through the void. Building with the grandeur of a space-aged opera, stalactite strings and swooping synths come like gusts of cold wind creating a hair-raising tension before the drop that’s pure dark energy. And then he repeats the trick with a second drop that’s even better. Hoods up, lighters out, intergalactic ravers this one’s for you.

On ‘War’ he ratchets the darkness up a notch again. “You must go before the fighting begins” the sample warns the soft-core as the discordant icy synths, the nervous tribal percussion and the subbed-out kicked drum mark a militaristic beat that leaves no doubts that something fearsome is coming. “War has begun” and it begins. 

Finally with ‘The Tunnel’ J.Sono saves the most straight-forwardly dancefloor destroying UK tech for last. Surging forwards, its hats, percussion and pulsating synths interlock to create a propulsive matrix of rhythm over the globular bassline. Welcome to the tunnel, there’s no light at the end until daybreak.

HNHが創設されてまもなく頃にリリースしてくださった天才トラックメーカーJ. Sono (旧Digital Danger)が自分のサウンドを再考案し、復帰。
緊張感に満ちたSpaceyな音景を残しつつ、ミニマルというなかれ、能率化したテクノを提供。特有の音の冷たさやリズムサイエンスがJ. Sonoの魅力。 

You Want Meは低空飛行アンセム。ディープなグルーブの上に、飛び回るヴォーカルチョップや遠くからきこえたサイレンのようなかん高いシンセが絡み合う。 トラックが終わると、まるで催眠状態から冷めた感覚。 

タイトルトラックThe Darknessは、タイトル通り、ダーク。メカニカルなリズムに、冷たい横風のように吹いてくるシンセやストリングが加わり、オペラのように徐々に高まって発展していく。クラブミュージックとはいえ、ホームリスニングにでも向いているほどルーシッドな音質を誇る音響作品。

「戦いが始まる前に逃げなければならない」。
３番めのトラック「War」はこのサンプルで気の弱い方に警告。抜け出せる前に、ミリタリー系とトライバル系が不気味に混ざり合ったビートに引っ張られ、しかたなく不明な危険へ前進…「戦いが始まった」とだけ告げ、見事にドロップ。 

今回のリリースでもっともダンスフロアー向けなのは最後のトラック、The Tunnel。複雑なリズム、脈動するシンセや太いベースラインが連結して推進力を生み出す。爽快な速さで進んでいくのに、その先にあるはずだった光が見えてこない…
