As we head into the holiday season, many of us can finally start to breathe a deep sigh of relief. We are now a year removed from the coronavirus pandemic and dancefloors around the globe are getting back into the full swing of things - welcoming many of their patrons with open arms and vaccine checks. 

Although we should not declare victory just yet, it looks like the largest disruptive force of the 21st century might be behind us.  With booster shots in hand, the next couple of months should be utilized as a time for us to relax and gradually return to our old selves. For those reading this page, that typically means getting back to our favorite clubs and venues to let loose all the pent up energy from the past several months. 

If you are looking for a soundtrack to mark this semi-return to normalcy, look no further than the latest VA from BB favorite Honey Butter Records! Titled Loosey Goose, the Swedish imprint has decided to stick to their underground roots with a record featuring some of the brightest rising stars from the scene today. The 6-track compilation includes new music from the likes of Rafael Cancian, Fidde, Sam Paradise, HATT.D, and Max Telaer - all close friends and collaborators of the label’s Head Honcho Emil Sunessson. 

The song we are fortunate to share with you today comes from Berlin-based maestro Siggatunez and goes by the name “Day of My Life.” From its airy assortment of strings to its complementary mix of soulful vocal samples, this track embodies the sort of joy many of us are feeling at the moment - as we get to resume the lives we had before 2020. Certainly a tune DJs will salivate to play at the start of their sets, “Day of My LIfe” contains a mood-setting arrangement of melodies that signal to its listeners the best is yet to come!

The Ellipse Records project was born out of two common goals with Houseum Records: sharing music and putting forward promising artists. This sub-label highlights a new music library that oscillates between electro, breakbeat and ambient. The releases will combine exploration and texture through the symbiosis between artistic covers and sounds.

Rising contemporary electronica musician Holo will be releasing his new In Limbo EP via Houseum’s sub-label Ellipse Records on the 11th of March. The Australian producer burst onto the scene in 2019 after seeing his first track 'Atlas' uploaded on the Houseum YouTube channel and after releasing his debut EP of the same name, with house music heavyweight UK label Shall Not Fade’s sub-label Lost Palms. The EP featured the deep house classic ‘In My Dreams’ that earned over 2 million streams on Houseum channel.

Hugo Horwood (Holo himself) is originally from Canberra and is currently living in Melbourne, Australia. His music draws from unexpected genres, including pop, classic rock, acid and 90s hip hop, to create a sound that is truly his own.

‘Bleu’ is the first introduction into the kaleidoscopic EP that will subvert your expectations from the get-go. With a gradual start, the listener is rewarded for taking the extra time to lean back into the song and explore the multilayered tones of chilled vibes and an inescapable otherworldly realm. The first hint at the artist’s vocal talents, the single leaves the listener begging for more.

‘In Limbo’ is the epitome of holidays: luxurious soundscapes and unhurried production at each turn. Join us as we venture down a long, winding road that hugs the mountains on one side and showcases a vast aquamarine world on the other. Just above, around the bend, you know there’s a house party waiting for you that promises sunsets and good vibes but for now, the road stretches on and there isn’t a rush in the world. Why would there be, when you’ve got Holo on the speakers?

It took a long time to get 'Supersonic' sounding the way Holo wanted it to, particularly dialling in the bass sound he could hear in his head. It reminds him of Fatboy Slim's 'Right Here, Right Now' or Robert D's 'Clubbed to Death' (from that scene in The Matrix with the woman in the red dress) with its swirling bassline and relentless drums. The guitar parts at the end are inspired by the intro to Pink Floyd’s Shine On You Crazy Diamond'. His friend rapped on the outro, and he’s keen to produce a live version of this track one day which puts his part front-and-centre.

Holo once had this “Airbnb for music gear” business idea and tried to validate it by buying an original Roland TB-303 to rent out to other producers in Melbourne. He ended up stopping that project but found he was way too in love with the 303 to sell it, and he's glad he didn’t because it's been a constant source of inspiration, and it’s all over this track. He’d been mucking around with an acid line over “In Limbo” and found that the 303 line worked brilliantly with the drums and bassline by themselves, so he immediately saved a new version of the project and didn't look back! The sound of this track is inspired by Andy Garvey’s 2019 Boiler Room x Pitch Festival set, and it’s another one where he thought, “this shouldn’t work”, with an acid lead, disco bassline, renaissance choir sample, eBow guitar line and a couple of sampled trumpets. The masked hero comes back after the LP with a 3 tracks EP landing in the summertime and it’s yet again worth the wait, as it brings back hints of that nu-disco house music we learnt to love but together with a new touch. “006A1” is the opening tune which is a funky view on the dancefloor with hints of blissful acid grooves and a meticulous structured arrangement, for club use only. "A2" is pertinent to the mood of the side A and it's a slower but solid groove with smooth vocals that come in without warning. A more classic approach to end the first part. B side is surely a masterpiece, a 11 minutes track taking over the whole side with a trippy approach containing so many musical inputs; throughout the whole composition we can hear how scrupulous is the sound research that the artist made, from sound design, to sampling and structuring, and the groove itself exploding in a mix of world music-afrofunk- beat belter, with the vocals giving it a touch of a tribal dance. A track to remember which surely lifts the level of the whole EP. A track we are, amongst the others, proud to release on our own label (@Apparel-Music). APLWAX006 is landing, so fasten your seat belts, because this is one to remember.

Interflow EP is the second studio EP by English producer Joe Newham on Houseum Records, released under his stage name Gavinco. The album's musical style is described as a synthesis or musical library of electronic sounds incorporated with the acid jazz instrumentation.

This EP is a collection of five tracks starting with the hypnotic yes transient track 'Much Love' with the singer Abela. The second track 'Regards' brings up the motion in the EP. That takes you on a tropical yet tantalizing trip with the solo piano riffs and arithmetic glockenspiel.

Third is 'Interflow' with the long lasting journey of muted trumpets and saxophone riffs that are accompanied by the live instrumentation of drum and bongo. We then move on to the fourth track 'Movate', this track pushes you back out into the dance groove with the heavy live bass recording that has been incorporated into the old school electronic 4/4 house rhythm.

Finally we finish with the bonus digital track 'Imagination' with the upbeat disco drum pattern and lavish ballroom style of house music.
