PREMIERE: Jesse Maas & WLAD - The Future [hedZup Records]

hedZup label head WLAD is making a huge statement this March with the release of his debut long player, Call Lab. The 10 track affair features a fantastic cast of collaborators including Oden & Fatzo, DeMarzo, Jesse Maas, The Willers Brothers, label partner Mancini and many more. 

This Paris based label and artist have become associated with their own unique brand of high class electronic grooves. They are always focussed on the future but have a tinge of 90s magic which has made them firm favourites with those who know. This album is a fine collection of expertly designed tracks that are stuffed with both feeling and groove. 

Moulin Rouge kicks off with a nice slick beat and sci-fi pads that immediately make you want to move. Sketchy then gets a little deeper and darker, with low slung bass and punchy kicks finished off with jazzy chords. The excellent sound design continues on The Future with Jesse Maas. It's a futuristic electronic groove that never lets up and has vibey vocals, while Sparkling Water from Mancini & WLAD thumps hard on heavy kicks and popping melodic details. 

Lova Droppa from The Willers Brothers & WLAD is seven minutes of silky house with dynamic drums and deft synth designs then Santé & WLAD get more techy with the bleeps and beats of Odyssey. Elsewhere, Family Affair, made in collab with his actual brother KONG, is an infectious and unrelenting tune with nice heady pads and kinetic kicks, and things close out with Causeless Calls from Capeesh Society & WLAD and Damien Badey & WLAD's Secret Story, which are both brilliantly atmospheric and driving house tunes with a real sense of style. 

This is a broad and brilliant collection of tasteful and club ready house cuts that explore plenty of fascinating different styles.

Label boss Archie Hamilton returns to Moss Co. for the first time since his Resurrection EP in 2020. The label is a platform for artists to explore their deeper side and this 2-tracker is no different.
The opening track ‘Horizon’ is a playful groover that displays all of Hamilton’s trademark elements; a rolling groove, emotive synths and acid lines that transport the listener into a hypnotic state only to be snapped back to reality by a melee of crashes, snares and a
soulful vocal.
The second track, 'Feel It’ is a deep and murky affair. Expertly crafted percussion ties together a driving low-end groove with misty tones and bells, which build into an outrageously funky bassline. From there a wistful vocal and simple sine lead is all it takes to turn the track into a veritable anthem

I went out for drinks with this girl from Tinder a while back. She was cool… until she wouldn't stop talking about Fred Again being “the best DJ to ever walk the earth” (no shade Fred). I eventually say “I actually make music too, we could go to mine and I’ll show u a little.”

We get to my place and I ask her fav (non Fred Again) song. She says “that new Jack Harlow one.” I rip the acapella and drop it in Ableton.

10 minutes in she puts her hand on my leg and goes "wanna watch a movie?” I said “nah papi’s cookin rn.”

She left. I stayed up all night cookin. When I sent it to her the next morning she replied “u literally picked making untz untz music instead of me

Enzo Siragusa releases four alternative cuts from his Decade of Rave double album project, entitled The Lost Dubs. All lean towards the FUSE label head’s darker taste, and darker side of production.

It’s no secret that Enzo takes a significant amount of inspiration from his formative years immersed in London’s invigorating Jungle, Drum n Bass, and Hardcore scene of the early 90s. A dance floor you’d not only find yourself encased in music on but feel it from your core. When in the studio, Enzo strives to emulate that feeling which you’ll heavily hear through the FUSE back catalogue, and when on the dance floor during his sets.
