James Soto (aka DJ Soto) moved to the United States from Guatemala in 2011, landing in Tampa’s vibrant club scene. There he developed a taste for house music and cultivated his aspiration to become a club DJ. After moving to Charleston, SC in 2012, he got serious about practicing his mixing and quickly caught the attention of many of the city’s top venues. He hit the scene running in 2013 and continued to refine his skills playing throughout the city, culminating most recently in his residency at Charleston’s premier nightclub, Trio, starting in 2019.
Soto specializes in open-format, house, and reggaeton and is known for his excellent track choices and larger-than-life per- sonality, which is always on display during his high-energy per- formances. His knack for clean mixing, reading the crowd, and bringing the community together has gained him a loyal follow- ing throughout the city of Charleston. As a resident DJ for Trio, Soto has been direct support for some of the largest names in the industry, including Steve Aoki, Meduza, Carnage, Solardo, Green Velvet, MK, John Summit, Dom Dolla, and many more. Soto has proven himself as one of the top DJs in the area and he is only just getting started.
