Daze - Childhood Dreams ( Instrumental )

I made this track 2 years ago now. Its a real pain how long it takes to get tracks released sometimes. I made it around the time that I signed Bobby Tank and Alizzz to my label MofoHifi, and I guess both those artists influenced my thinking in some way - in the combination of uplifting chordal synth work, an 80s/90s revisited sound pallet, and post-dubstep beats. Though of course other aspects of the track are very different to both those artists.

I like the sense that tracks like this give us of an alternative history of music, like one of those Star Trek episodes where you visit earth on a different fork in the time space continuum - one where in the mid 80s people were using dubstep halftime beats!

You may have noticed now that our album "All These Things Are Gone" is focusing on... things that have gone... from our culture and world, and one thing I really miss from music these days is key changes. The key change is just about the most emotionally affecting tricks a composer can use, but these days they have disappeared from most commercial music (apart from going a semitone up for the last chorus of a boy band song) and are 100% absent from dance music. Supersonic changes key relentlessly and willfully - nearly to the point of being a joke, but not quite.  This keeps me happy! (Also see our track "Heart Of The Night" that has the chorus a semitone out from the verse, for a 'light and shade' effect.)

I have great house tempo mixes of this track in from Louis La Roche and Fire Flowerz and I hope to release those during March.

Close on the heels of last month’s release of Birdee’s – Three Sides of Love EP, we have a wonderful remix package inc. Roisto’s mix of ‘Can’t Fight the Feeling’ and two mixes of ‘I Want You (Ft Gamble & Burke) from Disco Despair and Colour Vision. 

Kicking proceedings off is Roisto, who is in great demand at present being fresh from remixing The Magician and Bob Sinclar, Roisto jumps in with a beautiful Disco House version of ‘Can’t Fight the Feeling’, that has you back in the 90’s cutting up the floor to the French House/Electro styling’s of such luminaries as Alan Braxe and Pete Heller. 

Next up is Disco Despair; coming off the back of his remix duties for Nada Funk and Tom & Hills, Disco Despair delivers two great mixes. Disco Despair’s Vocal mix pushes the talents of Gamble & Burke to the forefront with a collection of synth stabs and layered harmonies that do nothing but compliment the vocals of this great track, whilst the Instrumental version strips the track back leaving a cool ambience, airy, light and full of promises to come. 

To round the package off we have Southern California’s Colour Vision mix of ‘I want You’ starting out with a more defined Deeper Bass line underlying the great vocals once again, into the breakdown and there’s an old school trance build hiding in there somewhere waiting to lift you up and carry through to the very last beat. All in all a remix package to suit all tastes that will be available from Youth Control on 6th of January.

On 30th October, French duo Housse de Racket unleash their third album, The Tourist, through !K7 Records. The LP consolidates the band’s dense sound and vast influences into something unique.

Coming back from their world tour that took them from Tokyo to Coachella, work began on The Tourist in 2013. It was entirely recorded in guitarist/vocalist Pierre Leroux’s new apartment, romantically located by the Paris landmark: Montmartre. As the band themselves put it, “How could we resist the Sacré-Coeur’s magnetic and hypnotic force?”.

The band’s previous album, Alesia (Kitsuné) was produced by Philippe Zdar, who had previously worked with the likes of The Rapture, Phoenix and The Beastie Boys and was critically acclaimed from all around the globe.

Housse de Racket describes their new effort as “a state of mind, a motionless journey,” and cites a wide range of inspirations for its songs: “We listened to Fleetwood Mac, Spacemen 3, XTC, Steel Pulse, Alan Vega, Ravel, Laurie Anderson, Miles Davis, Television…Everything we could get our hands on!”

The LP never sounds like an iPod playlist; Housse de Racket combines the sounds and locations that have affected them into a forty-minute masterclass in Gallic pop.

The Tourist is the sound of a group returning home, having seen the world, and trying to make sense of it all.
