We are so excited to have one of our super talented friends, the adventurous Elif with us with our 33rd podcast. She has put together a great mix with a great back story: 

"When Deep House Vancouver asked me to do a podcast I was so excited because it's been a while since i prepared a podcast and i realized how much i missed it! 
I have been posting my sets from DJ gigs but no podcasts lately. In a gig, the DJ picks up vibes from the crowd and it almost becomes a collaboration between the DJ and the crowd. When it's a podcast or a mixtape there's no crowd present, so the DJ needs to set an almost imaginary vibe and take people on a journey. The listeners don't have a saying in this one, not directly or simultaneously at least. No interaction, they turn on the music wherever they are and just surrender to it and let it take them from wherever they are to whatever vibe the DJ imagined and i think that's a different and special kind of connection, almost like time travel and telepathy. 
I love music so much and my love goes beyond genres and bpms. I wasn't even sure what kind of tone i wanted to set for my DHV podcast. I started picking tracks without paying attention to bpm or the energy. Just tracks that make me feel something and that i want to share and tell a story with. 
After getting more into the prep of the podcast my heart went for a more downtempo and chill vibe with melodic elements and soothing vocals. I love playing darker and proggy vibez at gigs and i realized i was looking forward to setting an more relaxed mood. Maybe that was what i needed myself. I was even feeling a bit uneasy these days and preparing this podcast was an emotional release for me. 
I love listening to podcasts like this at home chilling after a night out or a busy work day. Whatever it is, it’s a change of mood, a relaxation a surrender. I hope you enjoy this one with similar warm and easy emotions."

3 QUESTIONS to SAILOR & I:

Q: Give us an insight of your classics selection please. 

A: It was very difficult to decide what songs to pick for the this mix. I still feel there was so many songs that weren't able to be featured as the mix would be a week long, or so. What I did was basically to think of songs I wanted to hear that I didn't have on my laptop or that I haven't heard in a long time. So I went online and bought the first 20 songs I could think of that I loved. I thought about the mix as a story, how to start the story and then how it would end, then the selection made sense to me and I knew how to put the tracks together. 

Q: Singer, songwriter, producer live-act – what would describe you and your music best and how did you met the Bass?

A: Musician. I grew up in a family where no one listened to music. But once, I heard an orchestra performing on television I instantly new that this is what I’m going to do for the rest of my life. I was lucky to have parents that supported my passion, even though they weren’t able to share that passion with me, I could see that they understood the impact music had on me and the were fascinated with what music did to me . When I was about 11-12  years old I already hade a huge drum kit, bass guitar, electric guitar and different amplifiers in my boy room. These gears became an important place for me and my friends to discover and develop our passion for music. We played everything from Punk to Heavy Metal, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rage Against The Machine, you name it. This is what we did for a few years. Later on I started to play jazz and Afro-American music. Let’s say you want to learn the basics of Be-bop, then there is a lot of hours in front of you in terms of practicing scales, studying music theory, etcetera. Just to be able to be even close to practice this kind of music with other musicians. So I decided to spend the next 4-5 years dedicating my time playing Jazz standards, fusion and experimental music. Once I was out of College I was so fed up with all of this. In a school environment, where everyone is competing to be the better, faster, strongest musician playing a certain instrument, then it’s very easy to lose perspective on what you’re actually doing and why. Many of my friends ended up losing their passion for music and stopped playing. For me, I just lost the love for playing Jazz music. I still love the style, but I felt it was too infected and too much pressure to be a good guitarist, too many hours practicing scales, too few hours having fun playing with other musicians. Q: Which future projects are on the way?

A: I have been working on two different albums last year, the follow up to my debut album “The Invention of Loneliness” and one neo-classical album for guitar and Chello, that I’m going to record in Hansa Studio in Berlin next month. Besides the production work for my albums I have a few collaborations in the making. I can’t tell so much about it at the moment but it will be official the coming weeks.

This week's guest is no stranger to the Southern California house and techno scene. Having come together in San Diego this duo hit the scene strong after a debut performance at The Standard back in 2011. From there it has been no looking back as they have made waves across the world and become a premiere name in underground house and techno.  Having held residencies in Ibiza and Miami in addition to touring schedules that have taken them from Desert Hearts to Tulum to Switzerland and places in between. In addition to a healthy touring schedule they have a rigorous production ethic that has seen them release with top labels such as Get Physical, Bedrock, Crosstown Rebels and so many more. I feel like we are just scratching the surface of what to expect from these guys and am happy to share this mix with you all this week. Indianer Legenden

Zu besonderen Anlässen und Feierlichkeiten innerhalb der Dorfgemeinschaft, 
gaben die Ältesten unseres Stammes immer sehr alte Legenden und Geschichten aus längst vergangenen Epochen zum besten. Mal erzählten sie von heroischen Häuptlingen welche im Alleingang ganze Armeen in die Knie zwangen. Ein anderes Mal berichteten sie von einer großen Dürre die unsere Lande wochenlang heimsuchte und sowohl Vegetation, Vieh und Mensch dahinraffte. Der Schrecken nahm erst sein Ende, als der weise Medizinman Aru Chak in einem dreitägigen Ritual den großen Manitou darum bat, unserem Volk Wasser regnen zu lassen. Die für mich persönlich eindrücklichste aller Geschichten war jedoch jene, über die Fähig- und Fertigkeiten unserer Vorfahren aus der Zeit ohne Namen. Damals jagten man nicht mit Pfeil und Bogen oder einer Donnerbüchse. Ganz im Gegenteil, für ihren Fleischkonsum verwendeten sie eine um einiges friedvollere Methode, als die klassische Jagd. Laut dieser durchaus phantastisch klingenden Legende versammelten sich alle Dorfbewohner einmal in der Woche auf dem großen Platz in der Dorfmitte. In einem ersten Schritt wurde das gewünschte Tier auf Stein gezeichnet. Anschließend wurden alle Stammesmitglieder darum gebeten, sich hinzulegen und die Augen zu schließen und sich vorzustellen, wie das Bison ohne Fremdeinwirkung oder menschliches zutun, wie selbstverständlich und ohne Angst direkt zwischen sie tratt. Jeder einzelne sollte sich ganz bewusst auf dieses Szenario konzentrieren, um so, ohne eine anstrengende und nervenaufreibende Jagd das gewünschte Ziel zu erreichen. Der Medizimann trommelte dazu einen gleichbleibenden Rhtymus. Dann nach ungefähr 12 Stunden des fokussierten visualisierens hatten sie Erfolg und das Bison betratt die Dorfmitte und verharrte dort. Es schien als wäre das Tier in einer Art Trance und ohne Bewusstsein über seine derzeitige Situation. Mit einem Schnitt wurde das Bison nun getötet. Die Tat vollbracht bedankten sich alle bei dem Tier und und verzehrten respektvoll sein Fleisch.
Ich frage mich, warum wir nicht heutzutage ebenso vorgehen wie die "Alten Weisen" aus vergangenen Äonen.

Dieser Podcast ist zum einen abwechslungsreich als auch gradlinig. Die lockere und heitere Atmosphäre macht Spaß und erzeugt sommerlich-warme Stimmung im Herzen. Wir empfehlen ihn wärmstens und wünschen viel Vergnügen mit Hillmann & Neufang.
