Hollywood birders Harry and Tom deliver four DJ unfriendly tracks aimed squarely at the parish hall. Sonic forage-ables and contemporary barndance to storm cruck frames across the Tunbridge Wells - Pontypool connection.

‘Drum, Botany & the Brash’ is the product of six months of outings and studio sessions by Forest Casual, a collaborative project by Harry Murdoch and Thomas Morley. These songs assemble nocturnal field recordings, barely metric rhythms, the May Day dawn chorus, wilted bouzouki and wood-pigeon wub. Two heads colliding to create a third, completely distinct from its makers.The resulting four tracks are dub infused soundsystem folk for the funglist massive, just don’t call it Folktronica. Entrenched in the music are many musical tangents explored in Harry’s basement, anecdotes of work and play on the ropes, and memories of jumping fences and squinting at woodpeckers. 

Harry Murdoch makes music as hmurd and has released with TT Label, Gin & Platonic, All Centre and more. He co-runs the label Cherche Encore and is in the band Hard On Yarn Sourdonk Communion. Harry is chronically ill. He mostly makes music with code.
Thomas Morley is a free improviser currently exploring composition by experience and relationship. He is 1/2 of microband ‘mosspit’ and provides side-person duties for artists in need of pads and foley. Hailing from South Wales, Tom finds catharsis by abseiling on heritage buildings and playing 5-string banjo.

444theGod is a DJ and music producer from China. Though known for his high-energy club edits and remixes, he shows a completely different side with his album El Poema Inacabado. This album of "unfinished poetry" uses soft piano and synthesizers to create a delicate and introspective atmosphere, pierced through with white noise samples and coarse drones and that pull the listener into a shadowy dream. Inspired by IDM, ambient, and deconstructed club, El Poema Inacabado seeks to transform individual experiences—solitary nights spent in clubs, recording studios, and college dorms—into universal resonance.

In a world where violence cloaks itself in speed, hyper-individualism parades as strength, and the superficial is endlessly magnified, Safe Places, Pt. 1 embraces quiet defiance. This is not music for quick consumption but a relationship—unfolding with each listen, revealing new textures and hidden specters over time.

Two years in the making, Safe Places, Pt. 1 is a slow-simmered sonic tapestry, featuring twenty-four acts from across Europe and the UK. This release is a collision of minds, geographies, and imaginations that defy easy categorisation. Some tracks are born from singular, unrepeatable encounters—spontaneous collaborations that resist replication. It stands as a testament to a slow-curated process, where unpredictability and communal creativity reign.

Gritty blends of electronic dirt pop and deconstructed soundscapes, where rhythmic lurches and fragile melodies intertwine in unexpected ways / Vocals dissolve language, and pop elements are warped by loop pedals, creating a unique sonic experience that disorients and captivates / The tracks embody a raw, near-ugly beauty, teetering on the edge of collapse yet unified by a confident melancholic undertone.
At its heart is Natasja Mabesoone’s Leaky Vessel, a white UV print on the cassette case, drawn from Anne Carson’s The Gender of Sound.

“The girl with no door on her mouth” defies patriarchal efforts to silence women—an ancient belief that women’s two mouths (speech and sexuality) must be locked away. Mabesoone’s raw lines channel sirens and Ursula, letting words, paint, or protest spill forth and challenge constraints on the minoritised voice.

Much like these soundscapes, her imagery elevates the overlooked, recasting it as powerful and transformative. Through her art, Mabesoone invites us to reconsider the boundaries between personal and political, ephemeral and enduring.

This double cassette release embodies Swallowing Helmets’ philosophy of music as a vessel for discovery, dialogue, and risk. Safe Places, Pt. 1 favours slow, deep engagement over instant gratification—embracing the leaky, unpredictable paths where things seep, spill, and transform.
