Cheaters (John Talabot's Classic Vocal Refix)

The 40 Thieves turn up in Leng’s back garden for a bit of late night skullduggery. Kicking off with 'Backward Love', a deep wobble of dub guitars, weird out FX, large 80's synth lines and lovely throbbing bass, more than enough to get people freaky. 

As expected, a meaty joint of late night disco, for the murkier end of the dance-floor. We hear an album is on it's way and if it matches the quality of this release then we've got a veritable treat on it's way.

Like the joining of ancient clans or the marriage of Marie Antoinette to Louis of France the joining of the Duff brothers is something of a historical milestone. Since birth the Duff's have gone their separate ways, one getting down on the worlds hipper dancefloors, hips-a-wiggling, head thrown back in rapture and all under a spinning disco ball. The other brother the troubled teen, hood up, eyes down, bass rumbling, one time selecta. 

Imagine then two estranged brothers, born from the same seed living awkwardly side by side, never entirely comfortable in each other's company finally uniting on one massive inbred slab of sonic harmony. If you can imagine that slightly cack-handed analogy then that is pretty much what you get here.
 
After a year of huge edits and original material Duff Disco has finally gone and had a fiddle with his brother? Both taken from the forthcoming Duffstep album 'Getting To Sirius', 'Your Touch' and 'Backseat' are original Duffstep tracks given a cosmic make over by Duff Disco. They are proper modern disco music that sits just the right side of funky, without conjuring images of fluffy boots and spiky hair, white shirts and fake tan. Whilst Backseat is the more euphoric of the two Your Touch is more moody than an emo teenager watching Twighlight. 

Both obviously Duff Disco but somehow keeping the family together as Duffstep's finger prints are all over these too.

BJØRN TORSKE - Langt Fra Afrika (Todd Terje's Enda Lengre Miks (Fra Afrika Altså)))

Human Woman is the new signing on hfn music, made up of two very promising artists from Iceland; Gisli Galdur (aka Galdur) of prolific Icelandic band Trabant, and producer Jón Atli Helgason (aka Sexy Lazer). Coming together in the studio the pair have forged a fantastic fusion of modern electronic pop, with their debut single, ‚Delusional‘. The EP release, which will be accompanied by a music video, serves as a teaser for the upcoming debut album, which is planned for spring 2012.

Taking influences right across the board, the duo have cooked up a sensual, catchy indie-dance track that’s pleasingly reminiscent of the 80s, yet carries a great modern sheen thanks to the production skills of Human Woman. Cinematic, feel-good music for travelling, for friends, for living!

Denmark‘s wonder kid Kasper Bjørke is first to get his hands on ‚Delusional‘, introducing a straighter groove which leans more towards the slow-house-disco fraternity in this slow-cooking remix. A teasing, tense Dub version is included as a digital extra, thats sure to light up the more underground dancefloors!

Melbourne‘s Vincenzo then takes it even more cosmic with a bass heavy club mix that maintains the slow tempo yet elevates us to a more hypnotic plain. Clean, pure elements greet us in this luxury remix from the emotive house master.

Zev from Wolf &amp; Lamb then has his say with his ‚Brooklyn Beatdown Mix‘, breaking up the beats and tripping things out with some real old-school New York vibes. His Dreamland Mix moves into more pushing house zones, with dramatic washes of colour and dreamy, dramatic synth flourishes.

Wow! Something very special for R$N readers in the form of an exclusive (no free) remix download of TOY’s ‘Clock Chime’ the b side to current single ‘Left Myself Behind’.  It’s been shown some ‘Love From Outer Space’ by the Hardway Brothers with their Outer Space Dub reworking.

TOY look set to be one of the bands of the year... and we're only just into February. R$N saw them support the Horrors back in December and we were blown away by the power of their sound in The Roundhouse.  They finish their month long residency at the Shacklewell Arms on Friday. Don't miss. Probably your last chance to see them in such intimate surroundings.

Expect to hear the track getting a full P.A airing at one of the ‘A Love From Outer Space’ nights next week.

Sean Johnston needs little introduction to R$N readers. Great things already this year from Love From Outer Space traveller in the form of recent Mania Theme, already championed on these very pages. 

TOY is a Korg Delta led five-piece formed in 2010. It consists of Tom Dougall (Vox/Guitars), Dominic O’Dair (Guitars), Maxim Barron (Bass/Vox), Alejandra Diez (Synthesizers/Modulation) and Charlie Salvidge (Drums/Vox). TOY’s musical influences incorporate a wide range of genres including punk, psychedelia, krautrock, post rock to name a few and they explore experimental recording techniques in the studio.

With the majority of 2010 spent writing, TOY played their first show at the Cave Club in Islington earlier this year. Since then the band have played a string of live performances including Field Day and 1234 festivals and have supported bands such as The Horrors and The Pretty Things. Hardway Bros
Sean Johnston has been DJ'ing since his formative years in the frozen
North. Acid House Veteran, Techno Survivor, Hardway Bros, Beard Scientist
and Freelance Disco Consultant he has played at many of London's landmark
clubs from Sabre Sonic to Disco Bloodbath and was one of the founding
residents at London super-club Cable. He also plays regularly at up and
coming Berlin venue Salon Zur Wilden Renate.

Alongside Andrew Weatherall he runs and DJ's at A Love From Outer Space, a
cult monthly residency at The Drop in North London and The Berkeley Suite
in Glasgow, which has won plaudits as one of the country's best mid-week
clubs. Such is the night's popularity the pair have taken ALFOS to clubs
and festivals throughout Europe. An oasis of slow in a world of increasing
velocity, the club's manifesto is to never knowingly exceed 122bpm and is
home to a multitude of genres including ambient, balearic, dub, krautrock,
post punk, proto house, un-disco and other curiosities from the pair's
extensive record collections

Sean's productions, alongside fellow Hardway Bros, Jake Davies and a
mysterious South Londoner known only as Rico have graced such forward
thinking labels as Beard Science, Aniligital, History Clock, Astrolab, Luna
Flicks, I'm A Cliche and Is It Balearic?
