'Softie' is an attempt at proving that there is more than one way of being a functional human being. The album is about coping, growing out of your fears, learning how to distance yourself from your anxieties and the ups and downs that comes with being bipolar. 'Softie' is ultimately about releasing the pressure off of yourself and we want to encourage our listeners to do the same.

We decided to make a record that was turbulent, back and forth and non-conforming, because we wanted our second album to hit you in the face rather than rock you to sleep or move you to tears.

Running All The Way Home marks Spielbergs’ first new music since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album This Is Not The End, earlier this year. Released on the back of a packed-out spring tour, UK festival appearances and a recent tour support to Foxing – Running All The Way Home is Spielbergs at their triumphant best, condensing the mood of an entire world into a four-minute, adrenaline-shot thrill-ride.

The EP houses a handful of new songs (Running All The Way Home, Oh No and Fake A Reaction) as well as unreleased material from the album recording sessions, including the expansive and thoughtful electronic soundscapes of The Sum, and the ferocious and guttural This Is Not The End which inspired the title of their debut album and now find its release as part of the EP.

The EP will be released on limited CD, digital and limited vinyl - the vinyl containing three additional bonus tracks, Daisy! It's The New Me, Ghost Boy & Setting Sun, all taken from their breakthrough debut EP and all previously unavailable on vinyl.

'One of Us' was written as a direct response to what I see happening in the UK – a country ravaged by poverty and a disintegrating social fabric of increasingly isolated and intoxicated people. A neglected group spun in circles by an uncaring billionaire-owned media, (mis)led into pointing the finger at one another as opposed to those truly responsible for this situation. A depressing but common problem in 2019…sound familiar?

Striving to control others (emotions, desire, behaviors) corrupts. This seems like a chronic symptom of the worst in masculinity.

A responder talks back, but does it listen? Not equipped with the tools to be vulnerable, one voice denies reality, refuses to connect, exerts more control, idolizing restraint ("the way I held every face card") and admonishing its counterpart ("you way you scolded me"). With denial (to self and other), all's bound to collapse. Both know it will happen. Neither wants it.

I guess it's also an exploration of the big 80s breakup love ballads of the Patty Smyth featuring Don Henley variation, but the dark sexual politics of the heartbreak are more explicit. This is the night version.

I was listening to a lot of the xx and Sinead O'Connor when we wrote it and when re-recording it, I was listening to PJ Harvey almost exclusively. I wonder if this bleeds into the atmosphere.
