It seems that each season has its own "perfume of mystery".  In a typical Texas panhandle spring, it is Lilac and Russian Olive that perfume the air.  In the deep South, Magnolias are hypnotically fragrant.  In summer it is the fresh, petrichor air after a rainstorm, or a newly-mown field of hay.  In the fall there is a pungency of fallen leaves as they are raked into piles, and as the days grow cooler, smoke from a fireplace during an evening walk. It is an odor that grows stronger and crisper as winter sets in and the sweet scent of pine with the setting up of Christmas trees.  Dan wanted to capture this "perfume of mystery" with his unique composing and keyboard skills and invited me to come along. Thank you my friend for inviting me. A quiet chill jazz fusion atmosphere perhaps NuJazz with minimal percussion but a throbbing beat and electro, including one synth — a marimba sounding arp like a ticking clock — that I use in this  composition and a few new songs such as Hidden Room. Time Machine is the title track from my upcoming Time Machine EP.

With respect to H.G.Wells, I daresay that the brain, and more expansively, the mind is the best time machine of the cosmos. In fact, it created the idea of a time machine and discovered the physics that can someday engineer a time travel device. Time itself is a construct or an invention of the mind.

Our minds as time machines can instantly travel to the past — retrieving data about history and the physical world, and experiences from memory as if they happened today. Our minds can also zoom out to the future — conjuring a vision of how the world could look as a mental rehearsal, a daydream, a thought experiment, and a creative process for solving problems and making art. Or building time machines. 

We, humans, may be physically limited but our minds are not. And that gives me hope, even in the midst of chaos.

the Muse is missing in the War Zone
Beauty has a different definition
in the loaming of the elder days

My Alcoholic friend came busting through the treeline
stone cold sober, when the quarter moon was rising
and the surf was crashing
crying like a child

Said he saw the future in a puddle in his driveway
after eating mushrooms from Hawaii-

That's when i started laughing
That's when i started crying
trying and deciding to give it all away-
beginning with Cessation
embracing the rejected
replacing the infected with absolutely nothing but Compassion-

Forgiveness out of order
being highly overrated
since the bad behaviors
are in the very natures of the perpetrators

Recalibration,  however is an option
in the aftermath's Duration
and the possiblity of Passion 
still lingers in the fingers on the fretboards

while smitten with emotion of the joyful
