“krypt. vol2 is the second instalment of my ‘krypt’ EP series. It’s a mixtape-like EP, named after a ‘crypt’ (underground vault holding the remains of a person); in this case it’s my musical vault with several new + old tracks I’ve had in my unreleased catalogue. It touches various genres like the previous one, from garage stuff to a bit faster house, to slowed down nu-disco. I rarely get inspired by current music, most of the time I’m listening to records at least 15-20 years old but wondering how they would sound if they were made today.

The EP also features two songs (Never Enough, L.U.V.) with my own lead vocals, which a first for my releases thus far. I really enjoy making longer music projects which is why I’ve always gravitated towards LPs and albums, as a producer and a listener. It allows you to dive in a bit deeper in the mind of the creator and see where their emotions lie across a longer body of work. A single often doesn’t have enough power to allow you to see behind the curtain.”

Anjunadeep is excited to welcome back Moon Boots (Pete Dougherty) for his playful new single ‘Come Back Around’ - the first taste of a third studio album rumoured for an early 2023 release.

A collaboration with lead vocalist Clementine Creevy of LA rock band Cherry Glazerr, ‘Come Back Around’ tells the story of a nostalgic lover playfully calling their crush back to them. A winning combination of funked-out melodies, fast-paced breaks, and Creevy’s cheeky vocal, ‘Come Back Around’ signals a strong return for Moon Boots to Anjunadeep following two exceptional albums - Bimini Road and First Landing - which have accrued over 101 million streams. In an unlikely yet colourful collaboration, Creevy electrifies Dougherty’s arrangement, resulting in a catchy single that straddles the worlds of pop, indie, and dance. On the collab, Dougherty says:

“I got in touch with Clem after hearing her on tracks with Cherry Glazerr and I was immediately drawn to her voice - she has these amazing, gentle melodies, but sings them with a rawness that grabs you. We got together late last Spring when she happened to be in NYC, and we wrote the song in 2 creative sessions. This is the mark of the next musical chapter for me and I hope everyone enjoys it!"

Championed by the likes of Annie Mac, Diplo, Danny Howard, and The Blessed Madonna, Moon Boots has established himself as a trailblazer of R&B-infused dance music. Having remixed the likes of Dua Lipa, Robyn, and Nile Rodgers, Dougherty’s production prowess is in high demand, whilst his eclectic DJ sets and live shows (including a full live band) have seen him tour the world, with recent headline shows sold out across North America and Australia.

Moon Boots’ latest with Cherry Glazerr demonstrates his capacity to experiment and have fun. The LA-based rock band has seen great success on the indie circuit, being championed by Pitchfork, NME, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, and DIY magazine, and most recently supporting Alt J, Portugal. The Man and Jack White on their North American Tours. 

The single is accompanied with a lively music video filmed at Coney Island, featuring Dougherty and Creevy. Directed by Kenneth Bachor, the video is colourful and carefree, embodying the track’s flirtatious nature. On the collaboration and music video, lead singer Clem said:

“Pete cracks me up. He’s such a funny dude and I really love how he made this song so uplifting, and yet groovy and soulful at the same time. He has a vibrant spirit. We went to Coney Island to shoot the video and it was my first time there, so I was dancing like a little crazy woman just galavanting around the boardwalk blasting our song. My favourite moment was Ken, Pete and I squeezing ourselves into the teacups ride for the last shot- three grown adults in the tea cups were kind of insane but beautiful.”
