It's Timo Garcia's turn on the unrestrained sub label of Mobilee - Leena Music. Having recently been exploring a downtempo direction under his 'T_Mo' alias, this release on Leena kicks the doors down to announce Timo Garcia's return to the limelight.

Wasting no time to set the tone, 'Hypnotic' races out appearing to head for the big rooms that Timo is known for. However, a drone voice hints that not all is what it seems - a low frequency oscillation slams down and at once you're transported back to a 90s Leeds warehouse rave that reveals Timo's true roots.

'Zoot' is twisted house at its best. Taut drums provide a solid foundation whilst echoing pulses call and respond like submarine radar pings. A longing saxaphone and distant piano keys add emotive colour, but it's the bait-and-switch of basslines that will turn heads and move bodies.

'Ode to Chicago' triggers a million memories from Chicago and beyond. The jackhammer kickdrum, trancey lead synth, fluttering claps and majestic pads somehow flick an automatic switch in your mind to your first important moment with dance music and the seratonin release that changed you forever. Simple elements combine to create something universal.

Three tracks that represent flashpoints in underground dance music - this is a standout release in Timo Garcia's impressive discography.

The MOB is back…

This time round we welcome Greek producer CJ Jeff with his percussion laden tech house production, “Huelas”. The rolling drums are casually interrupted by echoed vocal pumps that break up the track for that extra pulse on the dance floor.

Next up, Timo Garcia graces us with a new track for the MOB after his last release with us, “Atomic”, back in 2012. “Run For Cover” takes a deeper approach and squelches through to a huge filtered synth line that is sure to capture the attention of clubber’s worldwide 

Another new head to the Skint umbrella, Spanish mainstay Jorge Montia closes the EP with “The Family Tree”. The coupling of underlying piano patterns, latin influenced guitar riffs and brass lines rounds this off as a superb addition to the MOB.

Following on from a superb 18th mix for our podcast we have Dynamicron who has put together an absolute belter of a mix for the Sunset Grooves 19th mixtape. Dynamircon aka Roberto based in Madrid has never missed a chance to check out music shows, live broadcasts and got into buying casette tapes in his youth. This led to him playing and producing songs through his keyboard and as a result joined bands as bassist, guitar player, drummer, vocalist and producer. 1996 was the beginning of his DJ'ing career and began producing in 1998. His productions can be found on a number of labels as well as his own two labels Los Grandes Records & Our Nights Recordings. 

This mix was done during an early morning where Dynamicron was trying to recreate a part of what the summer feeling would be at his place. Good grooves.

Musically it's across the spectrum with hip hop from Lootpack, Saul Williams and Ghostface Killah, before moving up into house territory with Hackman, the Paul Woolford rework for T Williams and classic UK Garage from Wookie. We take it down again with Digital Mystikz and Roberta Flack, then Turbulence into DJ Food, Outkast and ending with the beautiful Get Thy Bearings by Donovan. All this plus his own tracks Glass Floor from the first Sound Of The Cosmos EP (the VIP featured in the mix can be downloaded from XLR8R), Whiteboard Jungle which is going to be on JD Twitch (Optimo)'s Bucky Skank label later in the year and look out for the Calling Card EP coming soon on his own Paradise Club Recordings.

The ambient project Heathered Pearls was the brainchild of Polish-born Brooklynite Jakub Alexander, who had a career deeply rooted in music before he ever released any of his own. He was music “curator” for Tycho’s ISO50 blog, Tycho’s manager, a DJ under the Aarnio moniker, and, latterly, head of A&R at Ghostly International, the label that released his music. Introduced as a young man to ambient music by his mother, he loved the sound but hated the “Pure Moods” clichs often associated with it, and strove to create his own vision of the genre that avoided these. In 2004, while residing in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he founded the eclectic electronica netlabel Moodgadget alongside his friend Adam E. Hunt, with the aim of “exposing the diversity in electronically made music.” Many of the label’s alumni later went on to release albums on Ghostly.

Heathered Pearls' first release on that same label was the album Body Complex. It has just been followed up by a brand new remix EP with retouches of Perfume Catalogue and Interior Architecture Software by fellow label contributors Lord RAJA and Physical Therapy
