Melba Moore was born in 1945 in New York City, New York to parents Teddy Hill and Gertrude Melba Smith, later known as Bonnie Davis. She initially was raised in Harlem, New York until the age of nine when her mother remarried a jazz pianist named Clement Mooreman. Moore attended Newark Arts High School in Newark, New Jersey.[2] Her mother, Bonnie Davis had a No. 1 R&B hit with "Don't Stop Now", prior to Melba's birth. Although her biological father was Big Band leader and saxophonist Teddy Hill, it was her stepfather Mooreman (who played on "Don't Stop Now") who became a prime influence and encouragement in Moore's musical pursuits and talent, insisting she learn to play the piano. Initially, Moore graduated from college and worked as a music teacher, but soon opted to switch careers. Moore chose her stage name by shortening her stepfather's surname from Moorman to Moore and using her middle name, "Melba".

Bio
Hubert is a natural researcher, spending most of his time in a true quest for musical rarities and jewels, selected from a myriad of styles and possibilities. As he uncovers them, he turns to editing just to enable a perfect mix during his sets, usually fulfilled with influences of Disco-Rock, Afro-Beats, Oldschool, Balearic, House, Deep, electronic, 90’s,80’s.

Hubert spins in São Paulo’s main night clubs and special projects. He’s often seen behind the decks at D.EDGE and parties like Capslock, ODD for instance, and had an active participation in the city’s music scene evolution, playing in the iconic (and extinct) Vegas Club and many other places. He was one of the creators of the Diamond project, which took music to very exotic places around town, this project happened at the Trackers Club, place where Hubert plays since CAPSLOCK’s first editions.

Nowadays, he is a resident at Laço, a project idealized for artistic intervention using music, images, print material and many other media, and he works with the duo Modular Dreams as a music collaborator creating sounds for their projects together.

Throughout his career, Hubert has played alongside great names of the international music scene, such as: Pilooski, Wagoon Cookin, Darshan Jesrani (Metro Area) Hercules and Love Affair, Silver City, Fernando Pulichino, Julian Sanza, Neighbour, Rayko, Sou Clap, Ali Love, Inkswell, Dj Esa, Auntie Flo, Pachanga Boys (Superpitcher & Rebolledo), Zombies in Miami, Soul Clap, Jennifer Cardini, Jonas Kopp, Axel Boman, Steven Julien / Funkineven.
