Around 1993, Van Kan started producing his first music. [source?] Van Kan used a cassette recorder and an improvised turntable for this. His first productions consisted of so-called "cut and paste" mixes. After a few years, Van Kan built his own studio. Van Kan bought his equipment, such as a sampler, and produced some tracks that were not officially released but were only listened to by friends.

Van Kan also started working in a coffee shop during this period. During this period, Van Kan produced a demo tape that he took to a record company through a friend who had the right connections. Here his first work called All that she wants was released by the company Bünkor Beats records.

During this time, Van Kan was booked as a DJ at various small parties, including underground parties. That's how Van Kan played at the big 'squat' party in the center of The Hague. DJ Mystic (Nosferatu's first pseudonym) played non-stop for over 7 hours that night.

After working as a DJ for several years, and then as a producer, Van Kan bought new equipment with which he made a new demo. When the well-known DJ Ruffneck (Patrick van Kerckhoven) performed at a party, Van Kan gave him a demo. From this point Van Kan really started his career. [source?] He got an appointment with Van Kerckhoven and Andrea v.d. Rhee from Cardiac Music bv. and became part of the record company 'Inspiration vibes' and 'Dangerous Battle'.

After that, Van Kan was with the Enzyme Records label. He has been with the larger Neophyte Records since early 2015.
