On April 12, 1961, a human ventured into space for the first time aboard the “Vostok-1” rocket, completing a historic orbit around our planet. Since then, this date has been celebrated as Cosmonautics Day. We invite you to the Gagarin Dinner—an evening with a specially curated space-themed soundtrack!

For this occasion, Florentine musician Alexander Robotnick—a pioneer of electronic music, godfather of Italo Disco, and creator of the 1983 hit Problems D’Amour—has composed a new track “Alien in Florence”, exclusively for Gagarin Dinner at Satoshi Restaurant. In addition, the futuristic composer Inner Square has created an original piece titled “Vostok-1” in honor of this cosmic celebration.

His experience spans the United States and multiple international markets where he consistently advanced talent and business goals.

Throughout his career, Luis has collaborated with executives, managers, and teams to drive engagement and strengthen organizational performance. His background includes assignments in China, Brazil, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea, and Germany, giving him a broad understanding of global operations. He has applied this perspective to shape HR functions that support long-term business success across diverse environments.

Luis has worked across high-tech manufacturing, operations, engineering, sales, supply chain, and consumer packaged goods. His experience also includes B2B distribution, transportation, and foundry operations. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, transformational change, and employee and labor relations. His work in talent management and leadership development reflects a commitment to empowering teams.

Luis holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Southern Illinois University and an Executive Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University. Earlier in his career, he served in the United States Marine Corps, developing discipline, leadership ability, and operational awareness. These qualities shaped his approach to guiding organizations through growth, change, and complex challenges across many settings.

Over the years, Luis has held HR leadership roles at major companies including Motorola, Kellogg, Grainger, Navistar, Brunswick, Wheels, Hendrickson, and Reynolds Consumer Products. He has launched joint ventures abroad, led cultural transformations, improved employee engagement, reduced turnover, and supported strategic acquisitions. His work during the COVID pandemic ensured business continuity, and his leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion strengthened organizational culture.

Beyond his professional roles, Luis Herrera is dedicated to service and community involvement. Since 2016, he has volunteered with By the Hand in Chicago, supporting inner city youth through education and mentoring. He also participates in trips to northern Michigan to repair facilities at a Boy Scouts campground. In his personal life, Luis enjoys welding, home brewing, gardening, biking, scuba diving, and kayak fishing on quiet lakes, interests that reflect his hands-on nature and appreciation for learning and exploration.
