We are a not-for-profit awareness initiative created by the University of Texas at Austin to promote the value of the humanities, on campus and beyond. 

The Humanities Institute at UC Santa Cruz is a hub for academic research, cross-discipline collaboration, and public engagement. We incubate ideas and foster innovation by funding projects, centers, and research clusters that enable faculty and students to work on some of the biggest problems of our day.
The Institute is a source, resource, and force for Humanities-based inquiry and engagement with world events. We’re passionate about expanding the field of Humanities scholarship with digital tools and an interdisciplinary focus. And we believe strongly that the core subjects of the Humanities—philosophy, history, language and literature—should be accessible to everyone. That’s why we’re committed to engaging with the broadest community possible—from first-generation undergraduate students, to local residents, to anyone interested in compelling ideas and making sense of this increasingly complex world.

As part of the the University of California system, the Institute is able to leverage the resources of the finest public university system in the world. Part of what makes the UC system of universities great—and what makes us different from so many universities around the globe—is the central role of the Humanities in our educational experience, not only in the curriculum but also in the vibrant intellectual life of our campuses. Here at UC Santa Cruz, we possess an especially rich tradition of innovation, creativity, and collaboration in the Humanities.

The Minnesota Humanities Center offers a new way to think about our future—grounded in the humanities. Our state is rapidly changing and growing even more diverse. Look around. In case after case, in community after community, we too often choose not to listen to each other. As a result, we experience gaps and breakdowns.
 
The Humanities Center’s approach affirms we’re all in this together—using philosophy, literature, art, music, history and language—we focus on what unites us not divides us.

“Careers in the Public Humanities” is a podcast exploring the broad range of positions and prospects open to humanities scholars beyond the tenure track. Produced by graduate students in the URI English Department, each episode features an interview with a scholar in the humanities who uses their disciplinary knowledge in unique ways. The series aims to inspire current and prospective graduate students to embrace cross-disciplinary learning and to consider engaging in research that serves diverse literary and cultural publics. 

“Careers in the Public Humanities” is produced by graduate students in the University of Rhode Island English Department, with funding support from the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Next Generation PhD initiative.

The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest of the three Colleges at the University of Edinburgh. With over 16,000 students and around 1,460 staff, the College encompasses 11 Schools and provides over 300 undergraduate and 200 taught postgraduate programmes.

Irish Humanities Alliance (IHA) was formed in September 2013. It is a joint initiative of Humanities researchers within eleven higher education and research institutions, including all of the universities, North and South, Dublin Institute of Technology and the Royal Irish Academy. The Alliance is working to generate public awareness of the importance of humanities teaching and research in higher education and society at large, and also to inform and shape public policy in both jurisdictions and in the EU. The Alliance has established working groups to address the main areas of strategy which impinge on the roles of the humanities in education and research today. Through these it will aim to engage productively with policymakers and funders in the wider interests of the university systems in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
