‬Currently bouncing between the West Coast of Europe and the East Coast of the United States, Nick Klein is an American artist who followed his own path around the fringes of the contemporary American dance music without much worry of where he may end up as a result. His approach to sound is borne out of a desire to challenge the function of performance within a club setting, injecting an experimental approach to production underpinned by a deeply personal context. Coming to you from a hermitic studio endeavor amid lockdown, Nicks’s set for this show is not club music, but rather an eclectic and honest selection of his latest record purchases. His words on this set are “Support your local labels and record stores with money. Free Palestine.”

AND

Moroccon-born, New York-based artist Selwa Abd, aka @bergsonist -derived from Deleuze’s Bergsonism- is a producer, DJ, designer and activist who values intuition as the core tenet underlying her work. Bergsonist allows inspiration to come from anywhere, limiting herself only by her gear, and yet pushing even that beyond its preconceived uses. Her set for the show has been recorded one year ago, at the onset of the pandemic and the ensuing lockdown emptying the dance floors.

Don't feel compelled to standardize yourself based on the perceptions of success that may arise. Experimentation and persistence are essential for the conception of your sound. If reception and visibility is scarce within your city, start your own club night where your narrative can resonate and be felt; oftentimes community within nightlife and beyond is birthed within bedrooms, dives, and group chats. And most importantly have grace with yourself and avoid underselling the value of your efforts. You deserve your flowers while you're here.
