For about 4 years I asked Rawtekk if I could do a remix of my favortie song "To Be A Space monkey", and to my surprise they were happy to send me the multi tracks.

After a quick start I had to move my studio to another location, which created a considerable delay and left the production in limbo. As soon as I had the new studio back up and running, I continued my work, but kind of put myself in a corner with a lot of tempo changes and too much effects. 

I sent Rawtekk the result, but wasn't happy myself, and decided I would put the track on the shelve for a while to gain some perspective. Now, two years later, and a lofty 4 years after receiving the multi tracks, the remix is finally ready!

Rawtekk - To Be A Space Monkey (Leisure B remix)

Music will always be an expression of the journey of the artist or the team behind it. Leisure took a lofty break from releasing for the last nine years, but the journey nonetheless continued.

Skylancer offers a tightly compressed version of events which occurred between 2017 and 2020. From being stripped of an audio workspace, to building a brand new studio, acquiring an Access Virus TI2 and along with Ramon spending quality music time with Skyler from Audeka, the effects of this long and winding road are reflected in this latest EP by Leisure-B.

Sometimes it can feel like the direction is clear, but a path is nowhere in sight. All the means required to continue with something bigger and better are available, and all things need is a trigger. In the case of Skylancer it was Skyler’s visit to Leisure’s studio, and the resulting Leisure Lands track and EP. 

With Leisure Lands, Leisure got a peak in a world of non-linear rhythms and gained a new perspective on bass composition and programming. Based on the experience gained while on the other end working on his side projects Monolog Rockstar and Fetteck Doha, Leisure finally decided to let his love for lyrics tale the overhand and added a sparkling mix of vocals to his palette.

Skylancer is complemented by two other artists: Alexei Kalinkin, who’s also scheduled to release his LP Diginature, has taken Skylancer to another level of dynamics in a clear display of his skills and insights. This seven and a half remix is a clear projection of his current style on the original material. Highly up to date and tight as fu%&, Alexei shows his mastery once again. 

Julian Winter completes the EP with a signature sound remix which features slow percussives, downbeat drums and an almost reggae’ish finale.

Monolog Rockstars’ latest single can be considered an artistic impression of the sometimes quite volatile state of mind experienced by the band’s lead singer Ramon Lookman. A rough mix of beats, synthesizers and expressive vocals gives rise to a dark and brooding base for the icey and explicit vocal parts.

Monolog Rockstar’s new track Headwind is a mix of lo-fi rap and post funk, combined with a classical metal type vocal line which tells the story of the incredible challenges people face in their lifetime. As always, they manage to combine extremely modern elements with an original composition style and deep lyricism.

In the future within a quiet corner of the universe, beings had discovered a remarkable phenomenon known as the dream nexus. It all began when a group of scientists stumbled upon a way to calibrate dreams. Soon after, inhabitants of the world realized they could communicate with each other on a subconscious level, forging connections that transcended the boundaries of wakefulness. The dream nexus became a shared realm where individuals could meet, converse, and collaborate in a realm woven from the fabric of their collective imagination. This such place revealed ancient memories buried in the collective unconscious, remnants of forgotten civilizations, and the echo chamber of information long lost to time. The dream nexus was the means for this flourishing society to create new languages, as well as expand on means of communication amongst the masses without physically moving an inch.

Humanworkshop is a loose collective of electronic music producers and audio professionals.

We are a label, manufacturing and releasing CD and vinyl albums alongside offering free MP3 downloads of exclusive tunes and DJ/live recordings. We are an audio services company, producing content for any conceivable form of online and offline media. And we are a blog and e-zine, writing and publishing articles related to audio production, music composition and new media.

As a music collective and netlabel, we aim to cover a wide area of electronica and beats genres without being part of any particular scene. We are not a dubstep label, not drum and bass collective; rather we like to look at ourselves as a group that combines virtually any modern style with more authentic and traditional music. We are interested in music that merges contemporary production with samples and recordings of 'real-world', physical instruments.

As an audio services company, we like to think we are a versatile bunch of professionals, able of producing sound design and music tailor-made to the wishes of our clients. We have worked for big and small clients alike, ranging from the BBC, Nike to non-profit, government funded projects.

Humanworkshop was established in 2000 by Daan Hendriks, Gerrit Elbrink and Remus Ockels, then first year Audio Design students at the HKU in Hilversum. In 2009, we merged with netlabel and e-zine Fant00m in a move to expand our range and offer more quality content. As a result of this merger, Durk Kooistra entered the core team of Humanworkshop.
