I'm really into the Latin Electronica that has been coming fwd...Cumbia is bouncey and fun, originally from Colombia, with Crunk Cumbia adding a Hiphop vibe. Moombahton is chilled and funky, being a combination of Dutch House and Reggaeton. Moombahcore is edgier and filthier. Tribal Guarachero, Prehispanik drums and 3ball are the Mexican versions of Electro. Gonna be playing a lot of these styles this summer. I've been Djing Drumnbass, Breakbeat, Ragga, Dub & Music of Jamaican influence for over 10 years. I got into minimal internet radio stations while writing uni assignments, I found it helps me think in straight lines, which my brain is not naturally accustomed to. I began collecting tunes that I thought were good examples of the genre, i.e. minimal, repetetive, yet still interesting, good music.

I listened to numerous mixes by the likes of Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox...and found all the tracks they play extremely boring, and the style of mixing also very boring. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, these guys are hailed as greats, but nothing in their record boxes or catalogues takes my fancy.

I decided I could do better, and created this mix in Ableton Live. I rarely get to play DJ sets of minimal music as I am known more for Dubstep, Filthy Electro, Brekbeat, Drumnbass, Ragga, Breakcore & Jungle. I'd be keen to play a party for a minimal crowd.

This mix has emerged from a collection of tunes that all share a vibe, an inkling of an idea to collate shamanic celestial music that yearns to uplift the spirit and open the doors to a trance dance boogie.

The first hour or so is a mellow rise that rolls into organic pitch-black grooves to shake the cosmos. 

The past life spirit of this set sits deep in the Lost Woods of Abbots Ripton, a site once pilgrimaged annually for the Secret Garden Party, Rest in Power. Its future life is a pyramid shaped festival stage and light installation celebrating shamanic music and inner growth.

3000 Bass Exclusive Mix - 29th May 2019

Buy Now Pay Later was inspired by the current environmental crisis in which we continue to overstretch our finite resources at an alarming rate. By committing ecocide we are buying now and paying later when it will be too late to restore balance to life on Earth. 

The tune is a slice of bass-weight rinse out madness and embodies the critical mass of the Extinction Rebellion movement and how it captured the ethical hearts and minds of the UK and the World. Hungry Man has long been an environmental activist works in sustainable construction. He wanted to write music around this feeling without preaching or complaining.

Hungry Man (Hagop Heath-Matossian) has had plays on BBC Radio Solent, BBC Radio3 and Kane FM. His Bass Chronicles show is on www.ukbassradio.com every Tuesday 4pm - 6pm. He's delivered exclusive mixes for The British Council's Selector radio show and 3000 Bass and has collaborated with No.1 charting Sam & The Womp, Crystal Fighters, Aaron Horn, Shura and more. 

Career highlights include playing various shows alongside Grandmaster Flash, Stanton Warriors, David Rodigan MBE, Kode9, Rahzel, Soul Jazz and a winter season as resident DJ for infamous Apres-ski club “The Farm” in Verbier Switzerland. Raised on carnival sound system culture and pirate radio, Hungry Man LOVES bass music. His energetic set of original productions and remixes takes in Bassline, EDM, Drum’n’bass, & Dub Reggae. 

A veteran of the UK’s festival and party scene, he has rocked music events worldwide from London bass raves to Alpine snowboard contests and Rasputin’s St.Petersburg Palace. Festival appearances include Wilderness, Boomtown Fair, Glastonbury, Bestival, Secret Garden Party, Reggae Sun Ska and Electric Picnic.

His playful, exciting tunes encourage audiences to lose themselves in the moment, dance and connect. He creates his music in ‘Cosmic Studio’ in Dorset UK which he designed and built to be super low-energy consumption.

JUMP004 - Released 1st October 2021

McMafia is an instrumental synthy 146 bpm roller sitting between glitch-hop, dubstep and grime and has been crafted to get the crowd raving. It caught the imagination of the Bachelor’s circus students at Stockholm University of the Arts who choreographed the opening piece of their final show to it. This was live streamed during the 2021 lockdown and is the music video for the track.

McMafia sends a fist pump and a high five to every protestor and activist who sets out to disrupt society in order to raise awareness about the downtrodden. These people are risking their safety and livelihoods to protect what is being ravaged by corporations and often the state. The title was inspired by Misha Glenny's book on global mafia syndicates which includes governments. The vocal samples are Dissident Island's legal advice to protestors who are likely to be arrested in the course of their actions.
