Oxford, United Kingdom, February 2021 ​- Moving Still’s EP of  original tracks  seeks to hark back to the warmth and hospitality lost in  the midst of lockdowns while expanding his sonic palette rooted in his  Saudi/Irish heritage. Drawing its name from a form of welcome typical in  the Arabian peninsula, the record presents itself as a musical  invitation (Tafadal) into the Madjliss – the central hosting room of an  Arabian household. In isolation, Moving Still looks forward to inviting  people to come to the dance floor once again, inspiring prospective  guests with the warmth of the Arabic hosting tradition.

Taking its sonic roots from the Saudi-African dance tradition of the Mizmar, Moving Still blends the acid basslines his Dubliner mother would bring back to Saudi with traditional percussive patterns of his hometown  to electrifying effect. Sporting an arsenal that includes a Juno 107 and  a Roland JX3, Moving Still blends the modern acid feel with traditional arabic percussion to create a unique rhythmic palette.

A1 Batata charmer opens the proceedings with a cheeky nod to the dual Irish/Arabian roots of the project followed by Moroccan Mint Tea - a collaboration with Dublin stalwart Minos - providing a darker, deeper  and harder tone to the rest of the release. Shatta, named after a favourite hot sauce of the region incorporates elements of  Bahraini/Qatari Khaliji music with some dark, swirling vocals.  Finally, closing number Khalas Habibi provides no-nonsense pulsating  acid Rhythms that are undercut by a heavily percussive baseline, rendering it a suitable send off to the EP in typical Moving Still style.

Funnuvojere  is  the  new  imprint  founded  by  Massimiliano  Pagliara.  Now  marking  his  third  album  release,  after  countless  remixes  and  EPs,  the  Panorama  Bar  resident  widens  the  horizon  of  his  musical  contributions  by  launching  a  label  “deep  as  the  ocean”  as  the  name  suggests,  and  open  to  different  musical  genres.The  first  instalment  comes  from  James  Booth.  Known  also  as  The  Gardener  and  North  Vest,  the  Manchester  born  producer  has  been  known  for  his  distinctive  deep  sound  very  dear  to  Los  Angeles  based  imprint  100%  Silk  and  Hamburg's  Growing  Bin  Records  that  released  his  latest  LP  in  2017.  “Bath  Time”  is  a  thrillingly  deep-cosmic  cut  rich  in  melodies  and  emotions.  The  EP  starts  off  with  a    spaced-out,  italo  classic  cut  where  form  assumes  a  different  dimension  as  the  music  layers  intertwine  in  an  everlasting  flow.  If  the  title  track  seems  ironically  like  a  perfect  place  to  start  a  party  night,  “Roller  Chrome”  is  an  emotional  ballad  for  hopeful  dance  floors;  while  “Such  Is  Life”  is  a  nostalgic  piece  of  balearic  tradition.

Portable’s magical ‘This Horizon’ sees its release on the producer’s own Khoikhoi Records imprint on 14th February which is taken from his forthcoming Album 'The Transit Of Mercury' which is already getting the nod from Laurent Garnier, Honey Dijon, Ben UFO & Motor City Drum Ensemble, the package includes variations by the South African’s Bodycode alias, duo Bergemeann & Legget as well as a version from Johannesburg producer Sound of Xee.

While the original is a whirlwind of poignant vocals, floating melodies entwined in a tight leftfield house groove, Bergemann & Legget’s cleverly strips back, delving in the intensity of the single. It really is a testament to Portable’s ability to build an unsettling sense of beauty.

Sound of Xee makes his mark with a slow-building, progressive, rolling take, slipping into its own frenzy of percussion – a Khoikhoi mainstay at the forefront of South African electronic music in full force right here.

And finally, Portable’s own Bodycode moniker leads ‘This Horizon’ further into club territory with the seriously good ‘Bellycloud’ remix – jutting keys and 4x4 energy ending things in a place of all-out party.
