“Significance of a Garden” is a love letter to the dancefloor – exploring thumping syncopated drum programming, booming electro basslines and larger than life pads. With a stripped down crude bass-driven groove of a remix, Chicago’s DJ Girl adds a fifth track to this multi-layered sonic adventure. “Significance of a Garden” is devoted to take you to the dance, head on to a fruitful state where the only moment that matters is the present.

Basilica’s fourth submission comes courtesy of one it’s earliest roster holders, the newest sculptor of the both historic and ever changing ‘Bristol Bass’ sound - Kahter.

Kahters sound has always been a juxtaposition between spacious subtlety combined and contrasted with huge drum presence and swollen bass. Making his early debuts on labels such as Glome Sound, Manuka, Circular Jaw and, most recently, his enormous Swamp 81 debut release, Kahter has consistently released club based beats that cut through a mix with laser precision. 

The Polaris EP explores the heavier hitting side of Kahters production, with huge and heavy impacting basses and kicks, a barrage of razor sharp hats and lasers brought together under a rolling bop of distant and textured ambiences and pads.

01. Armin - Virgo (Continuous Cool Mix)

Over the past 6 months I’ve travelled to some of the worlds biggest cities and with the greatest respect, nowhere beats the scene in Glasgow in terms of the diverse creativity happening. 

The Clyde Built compilations have documented this year after year and it's a great pleasure to work on them. Previous artists range from Cucina Povera to Hammer, Big Miz to Still House Plants, LAPS, Lo Kindre and loads more. Not to mention the many one off's and incredible projects that have formed and dissipated over the years - another exciting aspect which characterises the immediacy of the scene. 

Despite being twice the size of any of its previous successors, this year’s cast of tomorrow’s talent is no different - owing a lot to many random encounters and the community spirit as a whole for it coming together in the way it did. Life is the most effective algorithm. 

Scene stalwarts rub shoulders with the freshest of faces - turning in a solid cross section of contemporary hip hop, alongside pop edits, ambient, free jazz and plenty of cutting edge 4/4 bangers in all shapes and sizes - including political anthem of our time, MULK! Rest assured, it won’t be the last you’ll hear of this lot. 

As always, the compilation was mastered by LANDR and is available for FREE download. 

To mark the occasion, we're teaming up with the Healthy crew and hosting a party at Civic House on the 15th June with a variety of the Clyde Built contributors past and present. Check RA / FB for more..
