About the song:
I was asked to make a memorable battle theme for the chess puzzle sections of the game, so i wanted to do my best to make the song feel like it could fit a wide variety of situations and game difficulties, gradually building up from a relatively more bombastic intro to more melodical sections, but with plenty of intermissions inbetween, in my opinion, this would fit the more difficult chezz puzzles in the gameplay because you'd be listening to the song for longer if you are struggling
I went for some progressive time signature choices, and also went with some more key changes than usual because i felt like it could help with giving the song more of an unique identity
In terms of inspirations, i would say that Rei Kondoh's works were in my head a lot when i was in the planning phases of this song

my love for chip tunes started at age ~5 with the family's Commodore 64. 8-bit games influenced most of the earlier stages of my life, followed by 16 bit...i re-post the best chip/demoscene tracks i can find, for your enjoyment.
