Heisenberg Uncertainty Players (HUP) is a Chicago-area big band, playing only original compositions and arrangements from the members of the group.  Formed in 2011, the band has been featured around the Chicago area in venues like Martyrs’ and Fitzgerald’s Nightclub and has taken up a monthly residency at Phyllis' Musical Inn, where they play every second Sunday of the month.

The band released their debut album, Emergency Postcards, in spring 2013.


Rooted in funk with elements of rock and jazz, Spocket's tight-knit horn lines and rock solid rhythm section set the stage for their unique brand of funk-fusion.

Chicago-based saxophonist/composer Dan Meinhardt has established himself as an innovative and versatile musician in the city's diverse scene. Known for his "less-is-more maturity" and "advanced facility for composition" (SomethingElse Reviews), Dan's music is as inspired by indie rock and folk music as it is by classic jazz recordings. Due to the depth and breadth of his musical experiences, Dan has become a sought-after collaborator in and around Chicago.

Dan has grown comfortable leading his own projects (Gone West, Outset) as well as performing as a sideman (Michael Nearpass, Carl Kennedy). His compositions have been featured across the country and can be heard on two albums: Gone West, and the upcoming Outset (2016, ears&eyes Records).
