Carlton Doom - Wolf Whistle (Reger Remix) [Hypercolour]

For Dyslecta's debut on vinyl, and follow up to his contribution to Out of Sorts' inaugural VA, he serves up four slabs of rugged, UK techno, with influences from the early swamp sound, 2000s hard groove and classic tech house. The influences of the early 2000's early tech house scene are clear in Left on Para, a tasteful hypnotic roller which combines dubbed out vocals with a lurching bassline. Full release is dropping on 19th August, with only 100 records available worldwide, via the Out of Sorts bandcamp.'

Pseudopolis returns to Redstone Press with an Eris Drew remix under her new Bassbin 23 alias!

Label co-boss Pseudopolis touches down on Redstone Press for the third time. If you’ve heard the last two you know the drill.

Taking no prisoners from the outset, “High For Life” establishes the mood of the EP, combining unrelenting breaks, bouncing basslines and a big-room energy that acts like a pressure release after many nights making music with no clubs in sight, a track that doesn’t loosen its grip throughout.

“Euphoria Inc.” keeps the room at boiling point with Pseudopolis expertly fusing climatic rave energy, broken breakbeats and a murky Reece bassline into an equally euphoric yet foreboding warehouse tool.

“Haze Runner” continues with the ruffneck breaks but raises the bpms and dread level, sounding like something that would soundtrack your teenage weed psychosis or your current 6AMs spent in front of your favourite Jungle sound system’s bassbins. Speaking of bassbins…

We are delighted to welcome Eris Drew to the label under her new guise “Bassbin23”. Years of dancing, rejoicing and playing dusty warehouse raves have informed this rendition of “High for Life”, stripping it back to a fun filled 4x4 rave weapon. We couldn’t think of anyone better to do the first remix on the label, bigups to you Eris!

Between 1 April 2022 and 30 September 2022, food banks in the Trussell Trust’s UK-wide network distributed 1.3 million food parcels to people facing hardship – this is an increase of 52% compared to the same period in 2019. Half a million of these parcels were distributed to children. The charity says that for the first time, need for emergency food is outstripping donations as the cost of living emergency is leading to a drastic increase in the number of people turning to food banks for support. 

With this situation being more urgent than ever, Vief are delighted to announce their 2nd charity compilation will be raising funds for the Trussell Trust. Not only providing incredibly vital, immediate support to people facing hardship, the charity also works tirelessly towards the goal of ending the need for food bank in the UK. 

Spanning genres and tempos, reticulation stands as the label’s most ambitious project to date, and owes its thanks to the immense talent and generosity of the 20 producers involved.

This was another one of those rare moments when I listen to a straight up demo cold and just instantly know that it’s completely and utterly right for the label. Qant ( @qqantt ) served me up some eyes down, impeccably produced bass heavy slices of pie and I was gobbling them down before you could say extra mozzarella.

Big beats, big bass and enough bleep bloops to set up a satellite business.

Taking a break from his work on songs by Young T & Bugsey, Sean Paul, Aitch, Stefflon Don, Pa Salieu, P-rallel, Hagan, Anz & more, Sam Interface returns to his own solo project. 

The ‘Just Having Fun’ EP brings the sort of energy that can be felt when in the midst of carnival, with its grimey basses and Trinidadian soca vocals creating an infectious sound for the club. 

‘Plenty Wine’ is a collaboration with Van Basten who is better known by his house alias “Gotsome”. The track takes influence from Kuduro, Dancehall, Dutch House and Soca and features the vocals of Soca superstar Bunji Garlin. 

‘146’ is a continued lineage in Sam’s uptempo experiments, following on from the equally imaginatively named ‘145’ on Sams collaborative 3:33 EP with Ahadadream in 2020 + his monstrous banger ‘Underground’. 

‘Let it Go’ is a techno leaning percussive workout, blending heavily processed percussion with swirling bleeps that seem to be constantly building throughout the track. This one was made as just a fun tool for DJ’s to mix into their sets and “just have fun” with. ‘Just Having Fun’ is a drum focussed roller made on a flight to Dubai and does exactly what it says on the tin. 

As an added Bandcamp exclusive bonus track Sam is letting loose one of the most heavily requested dubplates in the last 12 months, ‘Flashing Hype’. Championed by a small group of DJ’s he let it out to including Skream, Jamz Supernova, Jyoty and partner in crime Ahadadream, setting dancefloors on fire over the past year!

Since his last outing on Control Freak with the sold-out Bunzunkunzun EP, Syz has built a reputation as one of the UKs most distinctive club producers, weaving playful, percussive techno with soundsystem-driven bass music. Releases via Shanti Celeste’s Peach Discs and more recently on Banoffee Pies have cemented his position as a rising star of the UK scene.

Much of this acclaim started with 2020’s Mindforms - a self-released mini-LP which saw the young producer step away from the dancefloor to explore an expansive sonic world, ‘balancing the tranquility of the ecological world with the immediacy of the digital one’.

The original release was accompanied by a highly limited run of just 10 dubplates. Deeming this 6-tracker too good not to receive a proper pressing, Control Freak are proud to present the first ever complete vinyl run for Mindforms, housed in full-colour centre-cut sleeves featuring an adaptation of the original artwork by Jamie Fallon (Ghost Cell), reworked by London-based designer Blixa Aguerreberry.

Alongside the record, Syz & Control Freak have curated Clubforms, a collection of remixes from some of our favourite producers, each bringing the original release firmly onto the dancefloor with their own production flourishes. Daisy Moon takes a decidedly Bristolian approach, delivering a scorching hot, bass-driven club stomper.
