After two days of deliberation, the Turbo vibe trust and TWR72 have come to a unanimous decision regarding the winner and runner up of our Merijn Remix Competition. We were all very impressed by the different directions the mixes were taken, having heard everything from laid back lifestyle versions, peak time highlight reel techno, to straight up jazz. Thank you everyone for participating - we'll be doing another one of these very soon!!

I Like  That (Remastered) [Free Download]

As Figure begins to move into the next chapter of its label history, label founder Len Faki has teamed up with young French talent Roman Poncet for the 54th release. Poncet's debut on the label dropped last year with the excellent 'Cerate' cutting a clear path for his precisely executed modern techno sound. 

Teaming up in the studio, Faki and Poncet have crafted 'Asua' - a mesmerising display of production skill and a testament to the duo's true understanding of hypnosis. Pushing from the start with its urgent bassline the track builds and morphs its intertwining elements, introducing subtle textures and suggestions of melody - a classic Figure late night ritual. 

Alongside, we have original tracks from both Len Faki and Roman themselves. Faki's thunderous and aptly titled 'Stripped' works his powerhouse percussion along with a textured dub-stab in this straight up club trip. 

Finally with 'Truck' Roman Poncet completes the EP, his rough synth stabs and metallic percussion driving this moody tension builder ever forward.

With an album on the way for Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe label, it’d be only right that a lot of people start paying due attention to the rather enigmatic Mancunian duo, AnD. But in all truth, Andro and Dimit have been pushing their own bombastic fusion of techno for the last five years already. Releases on labels like Idle Hands, Hidden Hawaii and Horizontal Ground may have revealed and revelled in the pair’s obsession with the shadow cloaked outskirts of techno but the material for their debut LP, Cosmic Microwave Background, draws on a whole lot more than their love of the form, as we found out in this interview, conducted ahead of their headline set in the Plex hosted Room Three this Friday night that's presented alongside this sterling 35 minute mixtape.
