It’s always a pleasure to release an album, even more if this album comes from the hands and machines of @Hd-Substance. 

During a musical journey made of ten tracks, the Spanish veteran shows his synthesizer and drum machine skills, cooking this recording all out of the box. All of them executed using the inner sequencers of the machines when possible and also using hardware sequencers.

All tracks were recorded in one take with no edits.

No computers were involved in the creation of this collection, although all of them have been made during winter / spring 2021. The intention in this work was to use the same techniques and instruments used in the making of his first releases in the nineties plus some new ones to reflect the evolution and trademark sound he has achieved during his 30 year spanning career.

As the tunes were made using classic working methods, the track titles are names of also “classic” cinema actors from the past century, hence the album title.

Hd Substance likes to refer to its machines as his band, so here you have the band members:

We celebrate our three year journey in electronic music with this limited edition Vinyl by our artist @z-i-g-l-e-r, featuring remixes by @vertical-spectrum and @Voidloss.

The release starts with The Eternal Damnation, solid kick and sub bass frequencies as starting point, single note syncopated main sequence and subtle drone action conforms to this dance floor weapon.

The second cut is Caligine on the Vertical Spectrum version, adding tension and sharpness to the original vibe in a pure mental style.

Hoax opens the B side, delayed kicks, filtered acidic sequences mutating and evolving in an hysterical mood. 

Voidloss goes industrial and broken in his remake of Judas Betrayal providing the dark slice in this EP and a touch of experimentalism.

On the digital version we have the Caligine and Judas Betrayal original versions. The first is an adrenalinic exercise of continuous sequences and rhythms while the second is a proper sci-fi techno track.

Number 036 in our catalogue and we still alive and kicking. Our new release comes from Tintin (@tintinbeatz), a Spanish veteran from Salamanca based in the city of Barcelona.

In this EP he showcases his skills in the studio providing four energetic techno tracks.

Release starts with Tryptamine, an adrenalinic exercise made of rolling baselines and metallic components over a relentless groove.

Next track is Ferras, similar approach as the previous one but with a less aggressive kick and a FM like sequence adding the cosmic spice.

On the virtual B side, Undulate slows the pace, going opaque and grey in the frequency spectrum.

Behemoth closes the release bringing back the rudeness and the distortion in another continuous and hypnotic tool.

@Pelacha is one of the key figures in the Spanish underground techno scene, her first adventures in electronic music come from the end of the eighties in Madrid. She has been responsible for many club nights as a promoter, she was teaching production when no one did it, she is an extremely technical vinyl dj and a well seasoned producer. She also runs her own label Red Sonja Records. An entire life dedicated to the music we love.

For this release she follows six lunar phases, with a dedicated piece for each one.

First one is Luna Creciente, a relentless rhythmic track, intense, minimal in the components, mental and hypnotic.

Cuarto Creciente turns completely to new territories, dreamy synth pads, clear classic drum machine groove, emotion and melancholy.

Quinto Octante explores yet another sound register, broken rhythms, raw synths and proper bass.

Tercer Octante is spacey and dreamy, a synthesized orchestra directed wisely.

Cuarto Menguante follows, starting with a solid groove soon joined by diverse synth lines in a well cooked arrangement.

Luna Menguante closes the release, spending up the tempo, but preserving the emotional synthetic elements that bring character to the full EP.

Timeless music, provided by someone who has been there from the beginning.

Always good to have a new talent inboard, this time the Barcelona based @Buclelive is in charge of the music menu.

Four cuts of mental and profound techno, ranging to relaxing breaks to mental drill techno.

The first cut is 777, broken rhythms, subliminal ambiences and floaty elements define the components of this deep approach to spacey music.

With Conscience follows heavy sub bass action over an opaque groove, reverberated textures and sharp percussive elements complete the equation.

On the virtual B side, Fraction relies on a punchier kick to set the groove while gray micro drones and breathing ambience put the spice. Synthetic sequences grow from below and float over the arrangement in a subtle manner. Hypnosis suitable for the most intelligent dance floors out there.

Last cut is the electric Flashback, again a deep and hypnotic approach on the musical components while the percussive ones appear wisely through the arrangement.

Arof (@user-713684381) is the new alias of the Chilean artist John Plaza, who recently debuted as Arof on Legast Records label. As John Plaza he has released on labels such as BAHN Records, Fur:ther Sessions or Dorian to name a few, and has already visited the best clubs and venues in his country.

His speciality is merciless techno, fast paced and rugged, aimed for the peak time on advanced dance floors.

Along five cuts he expresses his personal vision of electronic music, starting with Tensio, made of relentless beats and linear synthetic components running at high speed on a hypnotic arrangement.

Slamming Fores is the second cut, less aggressive drums, ethereal textures and resonant sequences on a proper deep techno exercise with an acid touch.

Fat Man returns to pumping kicks on the sound’s basement soon joined by sci-fi lines and white noise percussive elements.

On Ferox Beat the broken beats appear along filtered evolving components spiced with alien details.

Metabeat follows the broken beat path this time on a more profound approach with epic synths and floating pads creating a massive after hour anthem.

We go profound and deep this time with this EP from @Marboc. He’s well into the underground scene in his home country Poland, and his music reflects the sound of the parties he promotes and takes part in.

Number one Lows is a deep paced hypnotic exercise, with a dark pitched vocals floating over a precise beat.

Inside Dimension 01 speeds up the pace, with more percussive elements added in successive layers across the ever rising arrangement.

Inside Dimension 04 is another phrenetic exercise, like his predecessor heavily percussive but with a tribal edge, remembering the good old days of the 90’s techno.

On Disorientation the rhythms broke, and the tribal feeling is still there, you will wait forever for the kick drum that never appears, that’s the magic of this track.

Poison Snake is the last cut again using broken grooves this time with an acid old school feel on the sequences, tradition meeting the future.

On our label we are just about the music, no matter where it comes from, no matter the gender of the creator, no matter political or trendy reasons. Electronic music to be danced and enjoyed in the best company or in your solitary moments.

Symmetrical 812 (@radiorobotek) comes from Russia and has a pretty busy creative schedule across several underground labels’ catalogs, now it’s time to have six of his weapons at home.

This extended release starts with the first installment of Triponation, a sci-fi infused techno travel relying on a heavy sub bass fuelled groove spiced with otherworldly sirens and bleeps.

The second version of Triponation uses pretty much the same sounds recipe, but this time with a more obsessive approach.

On the third version things go deeper and lower, in a more industrious vein but yet obsessive and disturbing.

Pcp show his alternative alias as Ozerov, going in the opposite direction, deep techno against sound aggression. But Ozerov can also be extreme on Rischa A or Otk2.

To resume, combat techno for the intrincated minds and bodies out there, as we like here at HXAGRM.

It’s time to release a new mini compilation called Simulation, so we can show the world a more diverse sound palette on one release. For this special edition we have on board some classic artists from our catalog alongside some new ones.

@Sicco-Bosscher is the first contributor with Narcosis, a profound techno exercise, solid and clean drums, dreamy-ethereal sequences, liquid chords and a progressive and intelligent arrangement. Modern dub techno for the more advanced clubs out there.

Following, sci-fi veteran @elektrabel provides Kendynadva, with his trademark cosmic and intrincated sound, always spacey and futuristic. Being scientific, this track also provides the necessary punch to work perfectly on a dance floor.

@LGN73-techno goes into broken beat territories, adding on top elastic sequences and obsessive synth lines to create a risky advanced club tool.

@Akenaton_music sounds groovy and bleepy, with a shuffled beat spiced with a classy synthesizer workout.

Group shows his skills with experimental and risky music, with this downtempo exercise where organic beats collide with obscure drones and distorted textures.

Closing the release, @Voidloss goes anabolic in his track Indoctrination Nation, where fattened drums and overdriven sounds create a definitive power techno piece for those who want it hard.

@Loskatt is the new talent onboard, hailing from Santiago de Chile this young and promising producer delivers three exercises of contemporary techno aimed directly for the dancefloor.

On the first cut Hard To Become, the groove goes frenetic at a high BPM rate. A solid percussive basement combines with repetitive bleeps and reverberated landscapes creating a compact feel.

Surgery goes next, slowing down the tempos, going more electric on the melodic sound palette and sounding somewhat old school in an atemporal exercise of cutting edge techno.

Last track Keen is a complete twist in style, going into trance territories, with lots of epic synths in different layers providing again a nice old school nineties techno feeling but according to modern rhythmic standards.

A promising talent to keep your eyes on for future releases.

We welcome onboard the mysterious Group, a well seasoned project with releases in labels such as Subsist, 30D Records, HC Records or Faith Disciplines to name but a few.

For this release, Group delivers six tracks, beginning with the broken abstract beats and distorted textures of 200514_0552, but melodic and melancholic at the same time.

000101_0761 follows, again using broken rhythms and distorted textures administered at low tempo ranges, crude and rude.

200724_0699 keeps the pace set in the previous cuts, one more time with distortion as leitmotiv, spiced with occasional bleeps. Obsessive and hypnotic.

200801_0709 the BPM range increases on this one, with the same style as the rest of the EP, breaks, overdriven sounds and sound aggression.

200911_0763 puts your tolerance to distortion to the limit in the most obscure slice in this extended work.

200718_0681 closes the release with a more dreamy approach, as usual combining harshness with melody.

In this 47th release, we present Licit (@iamlicit), a producer and performer from the UK influenced by the beats of Detroit originators like Jeff Mills and the grooves of Luke Slater’s Planetary Assault Systems.

Justin is an expert in fast paced rhythms and bleepy noises and he delivers exactly that in Neural Megastructure and on the second cut, Neural Superstructure.

Subversive Optimism changes the discourse a little bit, slowing down the BPM rate and using more shuffled percussive elements. Resonant synth noises fly over the compact groove creating a truly hypnotic feeling.

Endless Descent is another deep techno exercise, with metallic FM synth details appearing cyclically through the arrangement, combining with linear bell lines and a solid 909 tom bassline.

Our new EP comes from Balkan producers duo @Prostorija Za Otpad, who return home with their own approach to straight to the floor techno. This time they offer an extended EP comprising 6 tools for the players out there starting with Freza, solid beats provided at a high speed tempo, micro bleeps and stabs on the melodic side and great vocal sample to spice things up.

Bibac continues with the high speed pulse, this time in a more combative approach, reminiscent of the old Birmingham sound comes to mind when listening to this obsessive place.

De Ba provides asymmetrical sequences, compressed kicks and stabby details. Alien techno at its best.

Jare follows with solid sub bass pressure and textured ambiances adding tension, rough and harsh. 

Kaskada follows the path set by the previous cuts, straightforward and with no remorse.

Hala says goodbye with a metallic twist on sequences and bright reverberated claps randomly spicing the groove. The work with the vocal samples is stunning. An ode to funky mechanics.

Juan Antonio Lorente (@Yoikol) is one of the main actors in the Spanish electronic scene, responsible for one of the most respected radio shows in the country. He is also a skilled dj and producer, having released on labels such as Ben Klock’s Klockworks.

For this EP he delivers five pieces of advanced and intrincated techno, starting with the groove fuelled Insider, where several synth lines collide and mutate over a precise rhythm.

Hero follows, more obsessive than the previous number, reminding the best Detroit versus Birmingham tradition.

33 is super melodic and spacey, with beautiful arpeggios over a motor city infused beat.

Actress is the second album from @Hd-Substance for our label and the sequel of the previous Actors album released previously on the label.

The inspiration comes from classic cinema actresses, their classy look, their inner beauty and translating that classic feel to classic methods of electronic music creation and genres.

All music was made using only hardware tools with no computers involved, analog synthesizers, old drum machines, cheap FX units and hardware step sequencers.

Everything was mixed on an old analog console and recorded straight into a vintage tape recorder, preserving the production methods from the eighties and nineties of the past century.

Using his studio as a whole musical instrument, Hd Substance delivers eight cuts ranging from electro to techno, using his weapons skillfully, emphasizing on sound design only using his own made sound palette.

Time for another mini compilation in our catalog, always the same procedure, three new artists and three from our family, numbers 01, 03 and 05 are the new additions to our roster and numbers 02, 04 and 06 the family ones.

This being said, the first cut is by French legend @ArnaudLeTexier, providing Shelter, a relentless continuous driller in the best Birmingham tradition, no mercy here, direct weapon for the dancefloor.

Groof (@roberto-gemelin-353716488), the Spanish techno originator puts his machinery to work on Motorn, straight rhythms, carefully crafted sound design, all into a super clever arrangement administered at a human BPM rate, something rare to see these days.

On Galactic Tech, @Alavux dives into sci-fi realm but with a lofi approach on textures and sounds, no pads here, just adrenaline.

Label owner @G02 put his focus on the nineties tradition with Switch On, a classic track full of soul and old school vibes.

Last but not least, @Amby_Iguous, put the cherry on the pie with Movements, a superb vocal sample workout with Reese style bassline, absolute magic for the best sound systems out there.

Our new outlet comes from @DIBdeeb, Italian techno producer specialized on the deep side of techno. He provides us with five cuts of precise and drilling outer space music its own signature.

Track one, Winmx 001.1 is an intense track, with a relentless hypnotic groove setting the pace, filled with continuous sequences and occasional synth details that run flawlessly across a repetitive arrangement.

Second cut, Winmx 001.2 completely changes the approach, this time more cybernetic and alien, with sudden structure changes and sci-fi vocals. Absolutely martian.

Virtual B side and Winmx 001.3 comes in, going straight into outer territories on a proper futuristic techno travel.

On Winmx 001.4 you can perceive some electro influences, a combination of robotic elements and dense atmospheres.

Closing the release, Winmx 001.5 slows down the machine and dives deep into mental realms, using pads over minimalistic rhythms spiced with bleeps and classic 909 hi hats, perfect for the first moments on proper clubs out there.
