Following on from a couple of very enjoyable releases under his previous alias, we are very excited to be giving the official debut release to Gru Var's shiny new namesake, DJ Jackum. 

With this new direction, Jackum is driving down a much more old-school garage sound, giving us a juicy introduction by the name of 'Higher'. This one is all about the rhythms and subtle use of melodic switches as we hear an unpredictable array of garage goodness, introducing a fabulous new alias in style. 

This is just the beginning of the DJ Jackum sound and we are very happy for him to be pushing the movement under the Southpoint banner.

It’s always a pleasure to be able to jump into a vibrant box of new school UKG and organ house tools and tricks, with this latest offering from Aaron Jackson providing us some seriously smooth summer flavours. Complete with an epic remix, this is one of the funnest projects we’ve had the pleasure of putting together so far this year.

The title track is jam packed with goodness, from melodic organ chord lines to bubbling vocal expressions and potent drum processing, which when smashed together results in a seriously bubbly original. On the flip we dive much more into the UKG realm, welcoming the one and only Soulecta inside for a fantastic rework of ‘With You’, unveiling rave-ready bass manoeuvres and choppy drum switches, injecting a whole new layer of energy. What a release this is!

It’s been a pretty spectacular start for Hybrid Theory’s brand new self-titled label, having notched up three very well received two track projects in a pretty short space of time. So far we have seen the Birmingham based duo showcase a pretty wide spectrum of bass music from around the UK and beyond, with this latest addition to the catalogue continuing that theme with three more belters.  

We kick off this project with a dive into the title track ‘Move Slow’, something very different from anything previously released on the HT imprint. The pair sweep this one down a more mellow route from the off, combining pleasing chord plucks and keys with a catchy vocal tone, squeezed between tidy old school garage style drumwork and moody substructures below.  

Next, collaboration season opens up as Snipez joins the party on ‘Teen Cheer’. This one again takes us down a much more garage inspired route, gluing together groovy melodic twists and pulsating 2-steppy rhythms to gift us an absolute gem in any DJ’s selection.  

Finally, we round the EP off with ‘No Way’, the perfect sign off. For this one, the Hybrid boys bring in the sounds of Martin Green to turn the clock back with a seriously nostalgic UKG twist up. The drums are catchy, the grooves are playful and the overall vibe is just a joy to take in.  

The garage influences throughout this one are very clear, again showcasing Hybrid Theory’s incredible versatility within dance music!

Crisply vocals from fresh-face L-S adds another layer of intrigue. The unique feel of Yozhi’s sound design is yet again the perfect mix of mood creating and uplifting-but-laidback grooves that’re sure to make anyone and their nan want to bounce. An amazingly vibesy composition from start to finish, providing the perfect fuse to get us all out of those darker places that we may find ourselves in at times; and back into a zone where we can enjoy the sunshine, music and everything else that surrounds us.

Without taking the gas off the pedal, Tenshu treats us to another one of his productions showcasing a bass-ier style. Travelling through tempos and styles he really isn't one to to be put into a box. 'Inside The Ride' hits the balance of being a bass tune without being offensive to the ear to hit that sweet spot. As he takes a clear influence from speed garage for a rolling bassline, it'd be interested to see how this sound develops in the future of dance music with Tenshu being at the forefront of it.

Hybrid Theory are a DJ and Production duo from the cultural hub of the midlands, Birmingham. They have been blazing the UK Bass scene in style since they started now infamous Four40 imprint in 2010.

These guys have taken the UKBass scene by storm with their duty ghost warps, snappy saw’s and the heavy broken beat patten is the winning combination for these guys.

For the Hybrid boys appearances on Diplo's Mad Decent and Norman Cook's Southern Fried Records followed cementing their foothold in the scene as tastemakers in high demand. The guys were most notable so far seeing the release of their much anticipated EP on Champion's genre-bending Formula Records. In 2015 brand new releases will drop first on Jakwob's Boomting Recordings, These guys have a foothold in the music seen now collaborating with some of the top artists in the world. The collaboration with Stanton Warriors had a huge effect on the American breaks music scene, witch lead the guy’s to a 5 state American tour from LA to New York. Not to mention traveling across Europe, to destinations like Germany, Sweeden, Amsterdam, Belguim, Italy, plus many more.

If this kind of output wasn't enough Hybrid have been working tirelessly on preparations for a host of Guest-mixes for BBC Radio 1 and 1xtra following enthusiastic support on the BBC, RINSE FM and KISS, from the likes of Monki, DJ Target, MistaJam, Sian Anderson, Annie Nightingale, TODDLA-T and more (Not to mention other scene heavyweights like DIPLO, ETON MESSY, DJ EZ and ONEMAN)
