Exploring Morphing - Hydra's Blog

In these examples I tried out the Tone Transfer tool by Google and Magenta to turn some of my samples in their trumpet, flute and saxophone versions. It turned out by layering them together that the pitch and dynamic analysis were pretty accurate!

Hybrid Sounds

Matching EQ was born mainly has a referencing tool for seeing the differences between the sonic balance of a mix and the reference, but as always using tools in the 'wrong' ways can yield inspiring results, particularly in the creative sound design stage.
Here you will hear two pairs of bass loops matched respectevely: A first, then B with EQ matching to A, then B, finally A with EQ matching to B.

No Rules is the uncompromising project of Lithuanian artist Vitalijus, who creates a soundscape from the post-industrial backdrop of Kaunas that lies somewhere between cold concrete, flickering neon lights, and dystopian club culture.

His sound thrives on raw textures, mechanical rhythms, and an emotional coldness that has more to do with reality than escapism. It's not about nostalgia, but rather about thinking ahead: EBM, industrial, darkwave, and dystopian pop merge in No Rules to create an aesthetic vision in which danceability meets dissonance, physicality meets fragmentation, and the future meets decay.

A sense of controlled tension dominates his productions and DJ sets – stoic basslines, distorted vocals, metallic pads, and relentless beats paint a picture of a world where the human factor pulsates between the cogs of the machine. No rules – just attitude.

No Rules operates on the fringes of established scenes, building its own platform of raw sound and precise aesthetics. No room for decoration, no room for compromise. Just sound. Just energy. Just truth.

Welcome to the July edition of the Village Society Podcast.

This time, we're proud to feature an artist who's deeply rooted in the scene – someone who feels just as at home on the Swabian Jura as behind the decks.

DJ MAW, born in 1987 in Reutlingen, has been active since the early 2000s – as a DJ, underground event host, and sound enthusiast with a big heart for melodic techno and house.

After a longer creative break to focus on his family, he's back behind the decks: hosting the "Nightclub" radio show on Radio Fips, streaming on Twitch and Mixcloud, and appearing at hand-picked events that celebrate underground culture.

His set for us brings warmth, groove, and just a touch of something spiritual – almost like a sermon, but with plenty of room to move.

Sound Designer, Sound Engineer, and Eclectic Electronic Music DJ/Producer from Italy. 

My main focus as an artist is what I like to call 'Cinematic Bass Music,' a mix of influences from deep, dark cinematic soundtracks and heavy underground bass music, with special attention on sound design and sonic explorations.

HydraTek is the name that summarizes my artistic vision:
'Hydra' recalls the mythology and is epitomized by an aggressive, distinctive sound that’s become my signature in both sound design projects and electronic music productions;
’Tek’ is about my continuous research for high-tech and futuristic sonic explorations, trying to push
electronic music forward to explore new frontiers.

The different 'heads' of the hydra are a metaphor for my eclecticism. The two polarities in the name can sometimes be found in a harsh contrast between delicate, emotive melodies and twisted, abrasive basslines.

With a strong influence and passion for modern film soundtracks, I strive to provide a concept and storytelling inside my music, even inside club-oriented tracks.

My current production style involves a combination of Dark Techno with a distinct cinematic influence, in which I like to insert melodic, emotional, deep, and a hint of brighter elements.
