Theodore B @theodorebertrand is a Parisian DJ and music producer. 
During his multiple trips to Romania, he has dove deep into the culture of minimal techno and unearthed many obscure local records that he regularly plays at parties all around France. 
In this mix composed exclusively of occult vinyl B-sides, he reinvents this style by giving it his touch that oscillates between ambiant and tribal to embark us on a shamanic journey.

Hyperboréal Transmission 003 - Hyperborealists

In the city of Grenoble, an emerging scene of psychedelic loving music collectives, influenced by all the shades of trance music, is making its mark. 
At the heart of it, the young artist lilii borea @liliiborea weaves her web of electro-acoustic blends, crafting psychedelic atmospheres, and shifting from contemplative sounds to lively rhythms. She brings together melancholy and joy, enchanting melodies and percussion, always with the hope that her sonic mosaics will carry both body and heart from reverie to dance.
With a name like that, it only made perfect sense that we invited her to our series.

Super stoked about this one ! @fluidmatter is a prolific artist, deeply rooted in the French electronic music scene.

As a label manager, he co-founded Virtual Forest Records, a label that’s been a key player in the unstoppable rise of the deep mental techno scene. Early on, the label gained attention with compilations that featured amazing tracks from artists like A Strange Wedding and Jacques Satre. More recently, they made waves with the acclaimed album by RM Estali, a huge personal favorite of ours.
As a DJ and composer, Fluid Matter blends his love for UK bass music with more hypnotic, psychedelic soundscapes. We witnessed the magic first hand on a sunny morning at la Vallée électrique Festival where the virtual forest crew can usually be found every year, and its exactly what’s waiting for you in today’s show.

Hyperboréal Transmission 005 - Fluid Matter

For our 6th transmission, we are very happy to welcome Unknown Record label founder and resident artist @leon-unkrec. Leons musical universe evolves around softness and slowness, usually navigating between ambient and downtempo music. He considers his music performances as invitations to introspection and letting go, as should be any good psychedelic experience.

This show was built as a voyage through ambient musics of around the world. Will you be able to guess all of its stops ? Close your eyes, phase out, and enjoy the ride....

Everything begins in the mystical depths of Eastern Europe, in Romania, where sacred echoes resonate, infused with the grandeur of Catholic and Protestant cathedrals. The journey continues in a classical style, gliding harmoniously through Austria, France, and the United Kingdom before immersing us in the enchanting Celtic melodies of the Irish lands, a realm of legends and leprechauns.

Carried by delicate aquatic waves, we cross the Atlantic to embrace the warm vibrations of the tropical islands, inhabited by the songs of ‘birds of paradise,’ creatures of unparalleled beauty. Then, we set course for Southeast Asia, where Japanese magic intertwines with the mysteries of the mountains of Bhutan and Tibet. There, the Tibetans had a prayer, a message to share with us.

The epic adventure continues, bathed in the vibrant rhythms and dazzling colors of India, before culminating in a grand finale in Turkey, where the mesmerizing saz of Par Sultana weaves one last enchantment. Every note of this journey becomes an invitation to explore, to feel, to dream.

Luca is a London native, currently based in the very exciting city of Lyon, founder of the collective Martian Moves. In this mix he navigates through a bunch of styles that are all very dear to us, including deep bass music, leftfield downtempo acid, dub techno and dreamy vibes in general… an absolute banger. If you like what you hear, be sure to check out his new Lil radio residency fissures where he’ll dive in more experimental ambient and smoky downtempo.

The post industrial city of Saint-Etienne has long made a name for itself in the hearts of avant garde electronic music lovers, thanks to the positive education festival. From the early days of EBM, through the downtempo psychedelia years, up to today’s deeptech uprising, the imprint on the country’s festival nights is unlike any other. 
Regulars of the festival and strongholds of the city, the duo of @orokaiva is made of two psycho lovers, who navigate between acid folk, experimental music, ritual sounds, and of course more modern vibes…always remaining in scopes of music that will make you close your eyes and dream. So close your eyes, dream, forget about all the things of the real world and enjoy !

It is with great joy that we welcome amazing artist and lurker of Parisian dancefloors @svawk, this sessions creator of a mix of very personal sounds and influences, ranging from glitchy, industrial ambiances to poppy vocal tunes, showing us yet another facet of what psychedelic music can mean. Svawk usually delivers surprising mixes of tribe, ambient, techno, or bass, with rap, baile and more… Through such subversive attitude, always allowing inclusive floors and communities bound around love for music, encouraging sonic exploration and building a space for healing.
As a member of Agressive(s) and Deficit, Svawk’s art as a DJ and producer also pushes political action, all while recognizing that making and bonding over music remains a privilege that not everyone can enjoy.
With that said, take a step back, roll a long one if you may and enjoy the trip…

Hyperboréal Transmission 010 - Svawk

This transmission is coming to your ears straight from the sunny coast of the Frioul island.

On that day, the rocky beach was as usual drenched in the setting sunlight, licked by the distinct sound of mediterranean waves. But on that day it was also plunged into an immersive ambient and experimental music atmosphere for a very special and extremely meditative yoga class.

Right off the coast of Marseille, a special kind of relaxation ritual was taking place, and at the commands of the sound system, the one and only @ganlan was in control.

This weirdo adventurer can usually be found either in Marseille, organizing this kind of odd event in the beautiful natural settings, or playing Goa trance at parties in China.

In addition to that, Ganlan is one of the nicest human beings we’ve had the pleasure to meet over the past few years, and it is with great pleasure and honor that we host his sonic wandering on HyperBoreal.

Hyperboréal Transmission 011 - Ganlan

@turtle-gate is hard to catch. No socials, only a Soundcloud profile and a good old phone number. But a strong reputation as an eclectic DJ for his shows on @radiody10 and as a member of the renowned @ozcollective, a group famous for their razor sharp taste in modern psychedelic electronic music. 

After exchanging a few messages soundcloud, we got on a call. I immediately understood his strong passion for his craft and was excited to get him on board.

And so the artist delivers a very special mix. More than a mix, an insane journey through dark, smoky 90s psychedelic atmospheres, leaving us confused and unsure of whether we are travelling through old school sci-fi alien movies, a silent hill remake, or an acid-fueled psychosis. Listen to this show and you will be constantly shuffled around nostalgic voices, weird industrial noises, long running delays and other reality-bending effects. Truly an other worldly experience !

Having an artist feel inspired by our project to get out of his comfort zone and explore the weirder spectrum of music is really what we strive for and what brings us joy. We wish you all to feel the same joy !
