In an intricate lattice of ever-evolving electro exploration, Samuel Van Dijk (@mohlao) is back on Delsin with a new EP. Under his VC-118A alias, the Helsinki based producer presents a richly textured, cinematic strain of machine funk that reaches beyond dancefloor functionality to test the expressive potential locked within electro's crisp rhythmic framework.

There's a melancholic mood hovering over Avian as Van Dijk allows a subtle edge of distortion to creep into his flickering drum programming. The end result is a pensive sound that touches on the moodiness of orchestral composition, unfurling patiently across extended run times without losing focus. With his characteristic attention to detail and broad dynamic range, Van Dijk continues to offer up a sophisticated, emotionally-charged strain of electro like no other.

Omen Wapta’s (@omenwapta) own Harald Uunk (@haralduunk) provided a liveset of haunting echoes, distorted washes, and sparse rhythmic fluxes. A sound distinct, inimitable, and so signature of the Omen Wapta milieu. These are spectres of lost drums buoyed on machine clouds. A dense fog.

There is a style of music that holds a special place in the heart of the hyperboreal crew members, but that has suffered a lack of representation in the series since its inception. Finally, this oversight has been resolved !

We are extremely happy to welcome to the Hyperboreal story the very talented producer and DJ from Ecuador, @opalomusic, who delivers a musical journey steering through trip-hop and downtempo. The mix will surely remind you of the 90s music of our youth, and will trigger in its audience waves of nostalgia, weird happiness, sadness somehow comforting and if you close your eyes, dream like states.

The mix is fully made of tracks produced by Ópalo himself, which goes to show just how good and prolific of a composer he is. You can find the tracks played in his two albums, La Edad Invisible, and News. You’d only be scratching the surface of his production, so check out his other stuff as well !
