Despite his young age, Carlton Doom is viewed as a legend amongst the Irish electronic scene, first making a huge impact under his enigmatic moniker Unknown with fellow Irish artist Gemma Dunleavy. Since the birth of Carlton Doom, he has gone on to release music on labels such as Hypercolour, Lobster Theremin and Hotflush, earning a reputation as one of the most forward thinking producers within the UK & Ireland. With that has come an unmistakable sound, his tracks instantly recognisable for their gritty and powerful energy. 

Doom’s latest work comes in the form of a four track EP on UK label Breaks ‘N’ Pieces titled ‘The Lost Tracks: Blue Galaxy’ the only EP which Doom had a clear picture in his head, aiming to make it sound otherworldly and not like anything else before him. Originally made in 2014, thankfully these tracks have been re-birthed, resulting in an exploration of profound thought, colour and oceanic layers.

Title track ‘Blue Galaxy’ is a place where freedom, peace and enchantment come together, blissfully interwoven into a headrest for your soul. Sprawling pads connect with yearning vocals, 
each new element adding to the feeling of interstellar migration. A grime influenced, chirpy lead is the center piece to ‘Mistriot’, keeping things fresh while incorporating signature low-slung kick drums and dense basslines. ‘Jektify’ then bounces through a labyrinth of revolving doors, managing to keep the energy at a lower BPM; the bass and lead compliment each other perfectly, richochotting from one note to the next.  

‘Life On Marble’ is a space opera narrated by Irish MC and hip-hop artist Emby. A tale of stargazing while reimagining life on a planet where we could be anyone, the rat race was no more and where sentiment was real. It’s a deeply profound end to an other-worldly EP from two of Ireland's finest artists.

Banoffee Pies Records welcomes La Dame on the label with her 4 track EP entitled "Zumbidos", lightly translated as "Buzzing" in Portuguese. The collection brings together a multi instrumentalist approach to a spectrum of percussion heavy, bass driven dubstep influences from the Belgium based French artist.

A musical journey neatly curated with three featuring artists, all seemingly cohesive, despite the wide net of sonics, with aim to illustrate and reflect the different sounds inhabiting the city of São Paulo. The lead track, "Suaves Rumores" aka "Sweet Rumours" invites Mr. Jo, a well known Brussels musician in the bass' underground scene with a harmonica insert, reminiscent of the early 2000 FWD dubstep sounds of the UK.

Goldie B, the French singer, MC, and producer based in Marseille, then enters with "Conscious", a catchy percussion of vibrant spoken word. "Non Ducor, Duco", meaning "I'm not driven, I'm driving", the motto of São Paulo, further introduces the next phase of La Dame's musical explorations. The last track, produced in collaboration with Florian Pellissier, a great French pianist, currently working with Iggy Pop and part of Cotonete, Camarao Jazz Orchestra and Os Foda, finally culminates with a flurry of keys in a broken beat jazz hybrid with "Dazzled".

Pev re-masters and re-issues a lead track from his debut LP 'Jarvik Mindstate' on Punch Drunk alongside a newly unearthed and previously unreleased track from 2008.

A leading protagonist of a nascent, more techno indebted sound in the 07/08 dubstep era, alongside peers such as Martyn, 2562 & Appleblim, Peverelist released a series of tracks that helped shape and define that scene. Alongside 'Infinity is Now' (Tectonic), Circling (w/ Appleblim – Skull Disco) and 'The Grind on Punch Drunk to name a few, Bluez was a standout track fusing melancholic Detroit style synths with the dub-wise aesthetics of the UK underground. Peverelist has since explored these themes further with his pioneering Livity Sound label. This release revisits the roots of his sound a decade on.

Fresh from a series of artist-led 12"s, Om Unit's Cosmic Bridge label returns with 'Dark Matter', its first compilation since 2017's 'Cosmology Selections'. Collected in a triple vinyl LP / digital formats, the release offers a fresh snapshot of the exciting possibilities and experiments happening at the intersection of hip-hop, jungle and bass music; a hybrid sound the label has pioneered since its first release eight years ago. 

Across 14 tracks, 'Dark Matter' showcases Cosmic Bridge's growing global roster of artists: Moresounds, Danny Scrilla, Proc Fiskal, Margari's Kid, Oliver Yorke, J:Kenzo, TMSV, vromm, alongside new faces Samba and Rude Operator, and perennial favorites Es.tereo, Synkro and Djrum, the latter two in collaboration with label head Om Unit. 

Stylistically the compilation covers a broad range, and gives listeners the space to digest it all with a running time of 75 minutes. There are stripped-down, meditative rollers such as TMSV's flute-led 'Ominous', the bass hypnosis of Danny Scrilla's 'Sacred Waters', and Samba's snappy, booming remix of Om Unit's 'The Lake'. The timeless energy of jungle is channeled in Proc Fiskal's 'Death', a percussive, bouncy number, while Moresounds plays with filters (and your mind) as he refines a less-is-more take of classic themes on 'Watating'. J:Kenzo highlights the music's Jamaican roots on 'Dub For Bashenga'; a tough, pounding cut that goes straight for the chest and which finds its counterpoint in Rude Operator's 'Broken Sky'. 

For those who like more expansive, cinematic approaches there are epic waves of drums, slick editing and euphoria in Es.tereo's 'Floating Point' and Vromm's 'Decentralized', while Oliver Yorke's 'Treasured' and Margari's Kid's 'Challenger' squeeze soul from colder sound palettes and tight breakbeats. 

Om Unit's two collaborations, 'Reflections' with Synkro and 'Ruins' with Djrum, reflect the compilation's ambitions and breadth. The former is a delicate, uplifting roller that sets you up for the dark rumblings, freeform stylings and frenetic rhythms of the latter. The compilation ends with a track that arguably stands tall on its own, Crypticz's 'Chrysalis' feat. Amy Kisnorbo; an 11-minute epic that plays out like a love letter to the magic of breakbeat science, dub technology and human creativity. 

Dark Matter is a finely crafted statement of intent from Cosmic Bridge and Om Unit, shunning easy self-congratulation for a dive into the musical potentials and connections of a sound that is now an established part of the global bass music vocabulary.
