A riotous romp through imaginatively used samples, familiar piano riffs, customary beats and other rave tropes, the master of mischief Luke Vibert puts together a 10 track ode to the era of M25 convoys, mobile phone hotlines and raving amongst dogs on strings in British aerodrome fields. 

With a long and extensive history in the UK’s dance counterculture spanning three decades, Vibert has released a barrage of inventive and animated music over the years that really doesn’t take itself too seriously, and is all the better for it.  LPs and singles for Mo Wax, Warp, Planet Mu, Ninja Tune and Rising High really speaks for itself, so it’s a honour to welcome Vibert back onto Hypercolour (after 2014’s ‘Ridmik’ album and 2015’s return of his Kerrier District moniker).

Vibert stiches together a collage of sounds, samples and beats for ‘Luke Vibert Presents UK Garave Vol. 1’ that captures the essence of the rave era perfectly.  Shuffling breakbeats and spine-tingling synths provide the flashbacks on ‘Heard It All B4’ whilst an onslaught of classic vocal hits come at the listener faster than a double drop rush on ‘Feel The Melody’.

‘Feel The Riddim’ doffs it cap at the dawn of UK garage with big bass bin rumbling riffs and Todd Terry beats on +8 whilst ‘U Can’t Touch Dat’ fuses skippy garage beats, rave-tastic stabs and another rewind on the ‘Can You Feel It’ vocal sample that never fails!

Whether you are an ageing raver, or a wide-eyed newbie, ‘Garave Vol. 1’ is a hugely enjoyable frolic in rave’s DAT tape archives, with Vibert playing master of ceremonies to a musical genre that quite simply refuses to die!

Voyeur make a return to Madhouse Records this April with the ‘Tonight’ EP, comprising four original compositions from the rising duo.

Benson Herbert & Leo Picking aka Voyeur stepped onto the scene in 2012 with their ‘Blame It On The Youth’ EP, released through Kerri Chandler’s then fledgling MadTech imprint, the New Jersey legend has mentored the duo ever since shifting them onto parent label Madhouse with the ‘Rain Away’ EP and featuring a Voyeur remix of his and Jerome Sydenham’s ‘Mama’ on his Watergate compilation.
Here we see the pair return to Madhouse with their soul-infused sound that’s seen them pick up support from the likes of Norm Talley, Nicholas and John Daly.

Title cut ‘Tonight’ kicks off the release and sees Voyeur offer up a classically sample based cut, fusing an array of chopped up snippets with loose organic rhythms and ethereal synth flourishes running alongside analogue bass licks and hypnotic vocal murmurs. ‘Don’t Lie To Me’ retains a similar aesthetic with dusty drum sounds running alongside lavish piano, horn and vocal hooks.

Entering the latter half of the release we have ‘Why’ which takes on a jazz-infused house feel, employing infectious guitar riffs, fluttering Rhodes lines and a bumpy rhythmic swing. Closer ‘Philae & Rosetta’ then rounds off this classy collection on a deeper tip with sparse understated rhythms while an underlying blues vibe adds a smooth and smoky feel to things.

Voyeur’s ‘Tonight’ EP is out on Madhouse Records 16th March (Vinyl) and 6th April 2015.

A deep, raw and driving piece of cut-and-paste house, ‘Devoted’ is built around heavy kicks, echoing pads and a funky bassline buried deep in the mix, all complete with oceans of groove and a chopped sample of the chorus from Grace Jones’ ‘Pull Up To The Bumper’.

Adesse Versions started as a re-edit project for Kevin Gorman while he was living in Vietnam, but has quickly grown to see release on Numbers, Local Talk, Make Love In Public Spaces and his own self-titled imprint, as well as score droves of listeners to his monthly Rinse FM show.

After 2015's Esalen Lectures LP for Touch Sensitive, Barry Lynn returns to the label under his given name with a twin set of ambient cassettes. 
The majority of the music on the Taurus Tapes results from live looping experiments using an electric guitar as the sound source, although a few tracks on Volume 1 were also created using synthesisers, and embellished with loughshore birdsong and fretless bass guitar.  
The result is an intimate and evolving sound, sculpted live in the moment. Moving away from over-arching concepts, the tracks are mostly titled after the constituent stars in the constellation of Taurus, Barry's star sign, and a common sight in the northern winter sky. 
Shades of Fripp's experiments with Eno can be detected in the Gibson fuzz tone and drifting loops, as well as more Gottsching-styled exercises in tight repetition.

With his familiar yet subtly unique and fresh approach, AKTR is commonly loved by both more hiphop leaning loop heads, and serious connoisseur consumers of Vaporwave alike. He somehow manages to consistently contribute a high level of bliss to this sample/collage culture (or whatever you want to label it) in a quiet yet powerful manner from his humble Yokohama apartment.
