We continue our journey of uncovering gems. Next up on the mag is Lyo aka Lyonel De Vos. Mostly associated with the NUT Records shop, which he set up with good friend Tunello, he’s a record dealer appreciated by DJs big and small, near and far. Belgian blooded, global kid, based in Barcelona. Oh and did we mention his record collection?!

Taking influences from his past - in Belgium with "electronic disco, proto house and all sorts of weird hybrid stuff", the minimal scene in Barcelona and his continued digging journey up to this point - Lyo delivers his personal take. 

"I've always been more into moods rather than styles", and for this podcast, he's got us in a mood alright: Diving into the unknown with menacing retro synths, funky rhythms, groovy basslines, emotional melodies and tasteful vocals, he warms up the stratosphere with the deep and industrial, leading towards a dancefloor in ecstasy, closing in style with a dub mix of Belgian synth-pop disco track "Love Sweet Love".

Number eighty three comes from a rising selector, Sydney/Eora born @pistaccio , who now resides in Melbourne/ Naarm.

I met Oren whilst playing on Skylab Radio as he has been helping out behind the scenes there. Beyond that he's been playing at various spots throughout the city, showing off a beautiful diversity of taste and impeccable dh'ing style.

This mix is a lovely blend of local sounds & abroad. A lighthearted, warm blend of house, techy notes, rolling percussion & more.

Following the success of The Hidden Beauty Of Dutch House '94-'98, the Berlin-based imprint has dug deep into the archives of the legendary Orlando Voorn’s ephemeral Slamdunk Records. Across this lovingly remastered EP are works of floating choral lines, cascading chords and textured drum patterns. Starting the new week with a fresh mix! This time, we have a special guest: the distinguished selector and drummer from the post-jazz band Disturbo Fresco Puttanesco Solari - Ijf Boullet from Ostend. This coastal resort town in Belgium gained fame beyond its borders in the 20th century through the macabre visuals of James Ensor and as the brief refuge of Marvin Gaye. In the 21st century, it became the headquarters for STROOM, the beloved label for loners who build their identities around obscure music.

I discovered Ijf through his work as a researcher and compiler for STROOM, for which he conducted several ethnographic expeditions to Latvia. These expeditions resulted in the release of significant works by Riga avant-gardists of the 1980s: NSRD, Ingus Baušķenieks, and the band 19 Gadi Pirms Sākuma. Ijf is also known for his expertise in "children's music." Thanks to him, STROOM featured the super catchy nursery rhyme hit Gejuich Der Auto's, where a children's choir from Vorselaar near Antwerp lists car brands.

Ijf is a resident of Kiosk Radio and hosts the post-wake-up show Morning Consort. Previously, he hosted The 4AD Archive Club, where he played the best music on earth, specifically rare and genuine indie rock music from nonexistent bands.

In summary, I'm thrilled that Ijf recorded an unconventional hour-long selection showcasing his diverse musical taste. Passionate enthusiasts like him, who embody and revere music, continually inspire, sustain, and fuel the De Kat Memwa project.

Alberto Miguez, also known as ARQUE (@___arque) , is a Galician DJ and producer who has been based in Madrid for several years. He is currently a regular collaborator at events organized by the Certain Music label. As a producer, he has worked with labels like Ears on Earth and Planka Records.
