Recession-coded , experimental electronic, post-punk and synth pop for those disillusioned with formal institutions and the status quo.  

Formed out of proximity and boredom, front-woman Eva June and keys player Josiah Barret-Lennard began working together in late 2023 when the two lived together in a share house. The trio was officially formed when bassist and multi instrumentalist Marcus Lees joined mid-2024. 

Whether it’s nihilistic vocals over an abrasive beat or drawn out lo-fi experimental soundscapes; they  aims to evoke a visceral reaction every time. Hyphae’s sound is shaped by analogue synthesisers, heightened emotional states and an underlying punk ethos. Sonic inspirations include  The Chemical Brothers, Thom Yorke's electronic works,  Massive Attack,  Aphex Twin and the like. 

Their debut single ’no_sleep’ is the first track of their upcoming EP (to be released late 2025). The track was initially written and recorded in the ‘at-the-time bedroom’ of Barret-Lennard whilst front-woman, June rambled her frustrations over a broken microphone. This track sets the tone for their upcoming EP that will be released later this year. Following this release , the trio will perform at alternative venues in their hometown of Perth, Western Australia.
