This is a recording from a live performance (Cracow, STK47, 08.09.23) – the result of Kharl and Michał Świeboda, also known as Tonallaxe, teaming up. Their incredible techno duo blends traditional DJ sets with sound experiments using a modular synthesizer, creating a wild journey through the sonic space. Improvisation and technical tricks come together, giving a fresh spin to the classic vibe, all while keeping it real and crafting a spatial musical expression.

In this musical spectacle, synthesizers play a crucial role, adding depth and dimension to the composition. Kharl and Michał Świeboda aka Tonallaxe, perfectly harness the potential of these electronic instruments, creating intriguing layers of sound. Modular synthesizers pulse, spin, and intertwine with the classic sounds of DJ sets, forming a unique sonic landscape.

The experimental approach to synthesizers in this project opens up new sound horizons, allowing artists to explore new realms of musical expression. It's not just a sound play; it's also a fascinating journey into the possibilities that the combination of analog and digital technology offers. As a result, each sound becomes a unique experience, and synthesizers play a key role in building this sonic
narrative.

Steve Bailey – aka Makaton – has been at the forefront of techno releasing peerless, influential and experimental techno music since 1998.
Makaton's unique production style leans heavily on dub, industrial, no wave and minimalism concepts. 
Bailey's experimental approach has seen him introduce new ways to represent techno and leave outdated approaches to the genre at the wayside.

Each artist has a special story to tell about their musicianship. Techno producer Desroi, who in every day life goes under the name Frederic Lindemann, has a relatively no-nonsense one. Observing from the outside, his production process seems to be one of tight structure and focus, holding great modernistic vision.

Desroi studied Composition at Folkwang University of Arts – parallel to his already ongoing career as a DJ, producer and label owner – having graduated in 2018. His craftsmanship combined with a more theoretical academic view gives him a distinguished position on the scene. Desroi is curious about exploring the bridges between contemporary music and techno, and he recently said he is less interested in arrangement, melodies and harmony, and much rather focuses strongly on textures, rhythms and new sounds. Listening to his compositions these quotes makes nothing but sense; Desroi’s techno is entrancing and layered but holds no unnecessary clutter. His tracks are so strictly organized and reduced that after spending some time with these stripped creations, the listener will discover something way more abstract than at first glance. Both as a live artist as well as a DJ, Desroi’s performances again focus on unsparingly and unsentimentally exposed material. Raw surface sounds and screeching futuristic signals prevail. Whereas the live-set is a concentrated form of relentless techno, the DJ-sets are a different journey; big room-oriented, but occasionally serving deeper vibes; small air pockets where one can gather energy before the next pounce.

Aside from releasing on his eponymous Desroi label, other highlights are appearances on Henning Baer’s Manhigh- and Shifted’s Avian imprints. Desroi is at the moment laying the final touches on his debut album, confirmed for release on “a well-known techno label” in 2019. Due in the first half of the year is an EP with the given title “Azara” on Spanish label Envra.
