Japanese sensation Mayurashka has arrived on Rhythm Section International !
We’ve long been fans of her hypnotic incantations that playfully subvert house and techno tropes to create wonderfully weird music that moves you.

Known for her delicate, subtly psychedelic approach to production - all subtlety is thrown out of the window on the opener, “Parents and God”. We are immediately confronted with a slamming Chicago house style beat in style of Mr Fingers at his most utilitarian. It slams, jerking in and out of tempo like Ron Hardy in beast mode.
Out of nowhere a soulful church organ arrives - at first for a brief respite - but then for an extended solo, which gives way to an 80s electro style breakdown before reverting back to form. It shouldn’t work, but somehow it does - to a dizzying extent - and heirin lies Mayurashka’s magic: a blatant disregard for norms and a deft touch that makes the unorthodox so compelling.

“Notango" takes another big left turn - sitting somewhere between tribal seance and rain dance, it’s mostly organic drums and otherworldly sound effects that combine to drag us deeper into the wormhole before “ Vat Murmur” takes us back into the light with its uptempo disco energy and giving way to heavy chugging bass. This one is equally for fans of idjut boys and Larry Levan.

The Ep rounds off with the title track “ LSI dreaming” - to try and describe it is almost impossible, but let’s say it starts of with a mid 2000s Perlon-era tech house energy before things quickly escalate beyond all recognition and then just hover with lysergic intensity. If I ever closed panorama bar, this is the track I’d end with.

Laka 942 Oscar Laka natural of Santander (Cantabria) Spain.
his early playing with dishes begins in the middle of the 1990s,
their early music more techno with influences at that time how Christian Wunchs Dj Muerto (Arcanoid) Oscar Mulero Dj Pitch. (The Zenobit3).
After a few years out of the scene and the musical avant-garde in the year 2010, more or less Laka942 returns to play with vinyl again but with a flavor more classic Electro and underground,
Defender of the format on vinyl and in fight against digital fraud and the circus scene which at present we consume musically,
influenced by artists such as The Zenobit3 and Arcanoid now today and with a melodic and hard-hitting electro sound always in vinyl format.

PRZ - Rekeep [MTRON044]

Madrid's F-on is a much beloved figure within the Spanish scene, known for his elegant all-vinyl sets and curation behind the brilliant Alpenglühen label among so much more. We stayed in touch after his particularly beautiful set at 2017’s Paral·lel Festival, and I've been looking forward to one day sharing this episode of the series since. Alfonso’s mix is uncanny in its precision and demonstrates a prowess behind the decks that few can match, a soft palette built through veteran and timeless selection. Two hours in and out of focus like rippling dust through which the flow of time slows, a stasis in the stream. Thanks Alfonso!

Podcast James Holden did for Resident Advisor, part of the interview in which he explains the reason for this mix:

RA: How and where was the mix recorded?

James: I recorded it in my studio, live, using Traktor, my two custom-made DOWO controllers, a slightly shitty Allen & Heath mixer and a Strymon tape delay pedal, all running through my TL Audio desk and Drawmer tube compressor. DJing through tubes was a new experience—and as you can hear I quite enjoyed playing with the saturation. 


RA: Can you tell us about the idea behind the mix?

James: I wanted to make a companion piece to the album (The Inheritors)—several other sides of the same coin or a few songs that influenced it (or might help explain it).
