One of Australias hottest emerging acts right now - Escape Artist - returns after his unapologetically rip-roaring release on Roza Terenzi's Kalahari Oyster Cult and his noble yet equally fantastic bush fire release record earlier this year.

This time round he lays down a four tracker for Temporal Cast, sporting heavily acid ladened dance floor shaped cuts, each encapsulating a sense of cadence and narrative. We premiere Techno Emergency which rounds off this perfectly crafted records on the flip. The acid bass line which has become such a prevalent tool for producers of late anchors the track, yet always gives the feeling there is more to come. All we'll say on this one is, wait for those pads.

Butter Sessions swiftly follows up Sleep D's May release BSD-01 with two complimentary heavyweights for a 12" release, Freak of Nature. Listeners may feel acquainted with the tracks as both have served as a staple in Sleep D's live set over the last 12 months.


Freak Of...is a strong beckon of electro-tinged techno that lures with a fearless pulse and an entrancing inflection, utilizing the faithful sounds of the Roland Jupiter 6, Super Jupiter and TR-09. The follow-up echoes basslines and percussion to overtly fuse the two tracks together. Nature taps further into Sleep D's homage to the live techno greats of the 1990s and early 2000s, mirroring their vigorous and eager momentum. Overall, Freak of Nature hits as an anesthetic swirl of brisk looping and thoughtful production.

Born from a mutual admiration of the groove ethic of 90s house music, Primitive Needs is the collaborative project of Melbourne locals Matt Stringfellow and Jackson Gray. Whilst staying true to their formative influences, the new project channels a natural progression towards late night club ready sounds, aided and abetted by an influx of new hardware and time in isolation. The dj and production duo step up with their debut "Phase Unity" for DAD008 displaying an array of house & breakbeat across the board with fellow Melbournian lads DJ Life, and Escape Artist on remix duties!
