@cpowers promotes the power of community organizing in many facets of her life. She’s an interstellar producer and DJ as well as an active tenants’ rights activist in Portland, Oregon. Intersectionality is at the core of Cecilia’s perspective as a trans woman and is reflected in her organizing practices and her musical activities. Whether planning actions against unethical landlords with tenants & regularly hosting solidarity benefit parties in Portland, or fostering safe dancing spaces with her queer family when she lived in Savannah GA, Cecilia has found ways to expand upon the notion of a “community in motion”. She has released on @sorry-records, @sweat-equity, @c-g-i-records, @propertrax, and @nichenbump to name a few. 

This EP is four cuts of C Powers’ signature touch applied to a hybrid blend of electro, breaks, and bass. There’s high-octane energy as well as a power in the spaces between. These four tracks balance “maximum” and “minimum” and will slap the fascism right out of any environment they’re dropped in. 

“Skidlet” opens up the A side with a skippy, positively vulnerable melody that trades off with bass lines that are having a sensuous dance with each other in the middle of the mix. It builds to a big bubbly climax and brings you down for the next track, “ACAB Shimmer”, which brings the staccato acid line in right when you want it. Add in big bass boops and clubby kicks and spacey crescendos. Surefire dancefloor bombshell! 

Skip to the B side and “Sky Hammer” slams down with some funky and hard electro. Plenty of wonk on top for the trippy but still peak dance floor moments. “CompuRink” closes the EP out with some more electro-fied acid with a touch of vocoder vocal moments to set it off and end it right. All 4 cuts are dancefloor boomscapes!

Waajeed’s 2022 long player, Memoirs of Hi-Tech Jazz, was an aural love letter to his hometown of Detroit; an amalgam of the city’s history, coalescing the personal, political and, of course, musical past.

From the Motown soul assembly line to J Dilla’s musically dense Hip-Hop to The Stooges’ proto-Punk to the birth of Techno, the music of the Motor City has spread across the globe inspiring countless artists who in turn went on to create their own forms and genres.

Emulating this movement and transmutation, the Memoirs of Hi-Tech Jazz remixes 12” sees artists from three continents repurpose elements from across the LP, transforming them into productions stamped with their own trademark styles whilst retaining the spirit of each original:

the UK’s Mark Broom loops sections of Right Now while speeding up the BPM for a classic UK-style techno remix; Ghana-born Yazzus takes on The Ballad of Robert O’Bryant adding a surprising number of twists and turns for a five-and-a-half-minute piece; Australians Jensen Interceptor and Assembler Code close the 12” out with their take on the album’s title and opening track neatly closing the loop, bringing us full circle to the start of the LP.

The release of Memoirs…remixes add another facet to the immensely heartfelt tribute to Detroit from one of its most talented citizens and a true milestone in the Tresor catalogue.

But if it is not received well, they think that there is nothing more to be done. This is completely worthless. It is the same as brining shame to a person by slandering him. It is nothing more than getting it off one’s chest.

Another blast from the past. Organic Signs' second reference comes from a white label record found in Jan Swam's collection. Positive Recreational Soundsystem is another aka for A Positive Life (Stefan Pierlejewski & Liam Farrell). Under this name, they only released one EP, back in 1996. There are 2 original tracks and a remix we added to close the generational circle.

The considered king of analogue synthesizers Oberheim Matrix 12 is the base of this PRS EP. Side A - Son of The Rising House - is a 10 mins entrancing musical journey that will transport us to the optimism and joy of a sunrise in the free parties of the mid 90's, which were still resisting to enter the capitalist rules of the clubs. Side B1 - Encoded - features an FM oscillator from the Matrix 12, embarking us on a darker version of the rave, with modulated sounds closer to goa trance. Finally, the B2 - remix by Jan Swam - shows us a modern take on the A-side, using the original samples sent by Stefan and others from the legendary Yamaha RM1X. It is an 8 minutes rework in which he pays great respect to the original one, separating it into a first part with breakbeat rhythms and a second part with 4x4.

Hailing from the southern part of the Netherlands, this Den Bosch-based UK aficionado serves up a handful of quality DJ tools in the higher BPMs. The EP kicks off with "Nano," where distorted vocals intertwine seamlessly with a steady broken groove. "Enter The Blade" follows suit, where acid baselines elegantly interplay with pulsating rave stabs. „Floor Crawl“ is sure one to test every clubs subs with it’s deep bass sweeps, while Hyper Continuum weaves a tapestry of never-ending suspense, complemented by expansive synths and swooping sirens.
To cap it off, Siu Mata contributes a killer remix of the title track, transforming its original elements into a high-speed dembow trip.
