DJ bwin follow up Leibniz’s inaugural release for the newly-founded hundert imprint with a three-track EP. »Trinity« draws on feverish breakbeats, hardcore influences and about 2,3 gigatonnes of bass.

Having released a split EP with DJ OK on Ireland’s First Second Label, »Trinity« sees the production duo venture into the realm of the ancient and the mystical, the inexplicable and the possibly made-up. Conceived as a triangle with one foot deep in the past and the other one in a future yet to explore, »Trinity« points all gunfingaz to the startling revelation that, hey, we’re all living in a computer simulation anyhow.

Informed by the ancient knowledge of the Dubstep elders and Jungle’s relentless search for a grain of truth amongst the lies fed to us by the Lo-Fi House empire, DJ bwin bring together the unholy trinity of paranoid hoover chords, melancholic textures and piercing synth notes for an EP that henceforth shall be known as »banging atmospheric Hardcore Continuum derivatives for late-night hours«. @Varum is a young Leipzig-based DJ and Producer that is part of the @ClearMemory Crew who are a group of Electro-artists/DJ´s, label-operators in East-Germany). In 2017 he released a split EP with @jayoverdose on https://soundcloud.com/hypress/orphra-clipz-ep-snippets 

The track selected to premiere on @DarkScienceElectro is the dancefloor-ready bop entitled 'Blocks'. Staccato bass lines, rushing arpeggios and TR-606 hats make this a clear standout on this wax release. To me, it's almost like Outrun meets Electro, which doesn't seem so bad at all in this instance. @Varum has a formula for a kind of melody that is almost amnesia-inducing amongst the other tracks, yet maintains some intrigue throughout the 4-track release. He also produces some really neat, lo-fi, Jazzy, Hip-Hop type stuff as well that he gives away on https://varum.bandcamp.com/ - This record will become available in February.

Over the past 6 months I’ve travelled to some of the worlds biggest cities and with the greatest respect, nowhere beats the scene in Glasgow in terms of the diverse creativity happening. 

The Clyde Built compilations have documented this year after year and it's a great pleasure to work on them. Previous artists range from Cucina Povera to Hammer, Big Miz to Still House Plants, LAPS, Lo Kindre and loads more. Not to mention the many one off's and incredible projects that have formed and dissipated over the years - another exciting aspect which characterises the immediacy of the scene. 

Despite being twice the size of any of its previous successors, this year’s cast of tomorrow’s talent is no different - owing a lot to many random encounters and the community spirit as a whole for it coming together in the way it did. Life is the most effective algorithm. 

Scene stalwarts rub shoulders with the freshest of faces - turning in a solid cross section of contemporary hip hop, alongside pop edits, ambient, free jazz and plenty of cutting edge 4/4 bangers in all shapes and sizes - including political anthem of our time, MULK! Rest assured, it won’t be the last you’ll hear of this lot. 

As always, the compilation was mastered by LANDR and is available for FREE download. 

To mark the occasion, we're teaming up with the Healthy crew and hosting a party at Civic House on the 15th June with a variety of the Clyde Built contributors past and present. Check RA / FB for more..
